Purge AutoCAD Drawings and Kill Zombies With These Apps

Heather Miller
October 30, 2017

Nothing beats the satisfaction of a good purge—except maybe killing some zombies, too. Luckily there are three AutoCAD apps, courtesy of developer Gilles Chanteau, to help you do just that.

RadicalPurge

Ready to purge AutoCAD drawings? “Besides the styles and tables purgeable with native command, RadicalPurge offers the opportunity to purge other unreferenced objects: groups, annotative scales, external references (DWG references, raster images, underlays) and obsolete entities (empty text and entity zero length),” Chanteau writes. You can download RadicalPurge for free here.

BatchPurge

According to Chanteau, BatchPurge can help you “purge other unreferenced objects: groups, annotative scales, external references (DWG references, raster images, and underlays), obsolete entities (empty text and entity zero length) and DGN complex line styles.” The download is available here for $2.50.

ZombieKiller

Do you have zombies lurking in your drawings? This app provides the FINDZOMBIES command to “search for proxy entities and objects and display the result in a tree structure.” Once they are located the “KILLZOMBIES command erases the proxy entities and objects for the checked applications in the dialog.” Zombies are gone with the free download here.
