compass-small This will be my 6th AU conference and it’s always a tremendously fun (and also exhausting) experience, with all the rushing around to the next session or the Exhibit Hall or lounges or having lots of fun conversations with speakers and attendees.

I am also always “wowed” by all the new technologies and approaches to design and engineering that are presented at AU. That’s a lot to take in over a few days, especially if you are new to AU and are attending classes.

With that in mind, I’ve pulled together some incredibly helpful links that contain AU survival tips from the blogs of our enthusiastic and devoted AU veterans, including Shaan Hurley, Melanie (Stone) Perry, Donnie Gladfelter, and Curt Moreno. Don’t worry about the year these tips were published.  Like the laws of physics, they are still true no matter when you go and where the conference takes place.

Another important survival tip for newbies: Be sure to attend the AU Freshman Orientation. Presented by AU’s own Lynn Allen, this session will give you great tips and talk about events and gatherings that you don’t want to miss.

And finally, although we will have a mobile app this year (more about that in a couple of weeks or so), it’s always good to have a map you can stick in your pocket to help you navigate.  Download the AU 2013 conference center maps.
