A few weeks ago we discussed some of the trends we see transforming how structural engineering and fabrication professionals design and deliver projects. We did this so that we can give our customers a wider selection of the most essential Autodesk software in a relatively simple way. The collections will empower you with new technologies to better collaborate with your project team members. It will also enable easier employee training and help your company explore the delivery of new types of services. Based on a term license, the collections allow you to easily scale your software up and down during the course of a project and include contingent employees in software planning.
So what tools in the Autodesk Industry Collections for AEC help me as a structural engineer, detailer, or fabricator?
Great question! We know that sometimes a lot of choice can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve highlighted the most essential products in the collection for structural professionals.
- Revit – Provides BIM-centric modeling and design of any structural system for building and infrastructure projects. Revit helps structural engineering firms deliver better coordinated designs and documentation by working within a common multi-discipline BIM environment. Being highly interoperable, Revit also integrates with detailing solutions like Advance Steel to help deliver more accurate designs to the fabrication team.
- AutoCAD – Trusted and familiar to many structural professionals, AutoCAD is the premier software for 2D and 3D CAD and drafting. DWG files can be imported and exported into AutoCAD, and the software is compatible with Revit to help provide clear communication of design data among project teams.
