BIM 360 Field Management Update – June 4, 2018

Shirin Arnold
June 6, 2018

Introduction

The June 4, 2018 BIM 360 Field Management update delivers new functionality to support checklist management, including:

  • Ability to run checklists within the web environment
  • Ability to define non-conforming values within the Checkbox & Multiple Choice Response Type

Ability to run checklists within the web environment

In order to allow more flexibility when it comes to running inspections we have added the ability to complete your checklists also within the web environment. This allows you to run the initial inspection out on site and come back the trailer and make any adjustments as necessary.

The initial release allows for the responding of the questions and we will continue development with the ability to add photos etc on the web at a later date.

Ability to define non-conforming values within a Checkbox & Multiple Choice Response Type

We recently released two list response types, checkbox and multiple choice. With this latest release we have now added the ability to define which of the possible answers within the customized list are non-conforming responses. This will later allow for the automatic creation of issues if one of these answers is selected.

As can be seen below, the default for each answer provided within the list is conforming. The user then has the option to manually define which answer should result in a non-conforming response by selecting toggle within the non-conforming column adjacent to the corresponding answer.

What will happen with the Equipment Module of Classic Field, will it be incorporated to Next Gen?

“BIM 360 Field Management” has lost a lot of PDF report utility that are in “BIM 360 Field”. If I need to have those types of PDF report should I stick with the old “BIM 360 Field” or those tools will be available in soon BIM 360 Field Management ?

      Hi Jean-Pierre:

We are building an reporting module for BIM 360 that will manage reports across all of our workflows. This will include Field Management as well as Document Management, Project Management, etc. If you let me know which PDF reporting features in classic Field you need, I can suggest the best version of Field for you.

With the ability to define non-conforming values in checklists, can the software currently create automatic issues if one of these answers is selected? When I select this answer, I do not see an issue automatically created.

      Hi there,

Thank you for the question, this is something that will be coming. Currently the user has to manually generate the issue as you state.

      Kind regards,
      Shirin Arnold
