Autodesk’s technical partners at IMTS 2016

August 1^st represents a major milestone for Autodesk manufacturing solutions. First, this represents the official integration of Delcam into the Autodesk family. This date also coincides with the release of the 2017 series of Autodesk CAM products. These two monumental events are happening just before the start of the International Manufacturing Technology Show 2016, or IMTS. The scale and nature of the show makes it perfect for networking as well as show casing the new features that the various Autodesk products have to offer.

This year, America’s largest Manufacturing show will be welcoming more than 2,000 companies and 114,000 buyers from over 112 countries. With Autodesk’s stands occupying almost 1.3 million square feet across 5 buildings, it can be easy to get lost in the thick of it all. With that in mind, I have compiled a list of stands that have caught my eye.

Tsugami/REM Sales

As one of North America’s top names in the machining of small diameter parts, REM Sales will be attending IMTS this year to showcase some of their latest technology, which includes the new SS207-5AX LaserSwiss. REM will be using IMTS to showcase the capabilities of their CNC machines. One highlight looks likely to be the use of Autodesk PartMaker to machine a number of parts for a fly reel spool. Find REM Sales at booth S-9410.

Okuma America

Okuma America specialise in CNC machine tooling and controls. At this year’s IMTS they will be showcasing their fully automated machining cell using a MULTUS B300II turn mill. A number of impressive demonstrations will be on-show. One particular highlight sees the new turning functionality, contained in Autodesk PowerMill 2017, combining with Okuma’s innovative Turn-Cut machine option to “turn” cylindrical features on a CNC mill-turn machine. Demonstration parts will include valves, manifolds and turbine housings. Be sure to find them at booth S-8500.

Hurco

Hurco, with the help of PowerMill, will be demonstrating some of their latest product ranges. Of particular note is a revolutionary approach to hybrid machining where a new 3D print head adapter is connected to the CNC mill. Steering slightly away from machining technology, Hurco will be inviting IMTS attendees to compete against each other on a scaled down version of the Indianapolis 500 speedway track. Successful IndyCar racers look set to win some very impressive prizes. Hurco will be at booth S-8319.

There’s plenty to see at this year’s IMTS. But have no fear, as IMTS spans across 5 days, there’s plenty of time to see how Autodesk’s partners are helping shape the future of making things. Pay a visit to these manufacturers to experience some specialist demonstrations using Autodesk’s latest CAM tools, including PowerMill and FeatureCAM.
