Don’t miss your chance to visit Autodesk at the worlds leading event for additive manufacturing, this year. Formnext will be taking place from the 19th to 22nd of November, in Frankfurt, Germany, and expects hundreds of visitors across the week.
Visitors will be able to see the impressive additive manufacturing work Autodesk has produced with the likes of Volkswagen, Matsuura and BAC, using our vast portfolio of advanced manufacturing technology.
The MAMBO
New for this year, our showstopper is the MAMBO – the Motor Additive Manufactured boat, an incredible example of additive manufacturing, produced as part of a research project by MOI. Programmed using Autodesk Netfabb, with Autodesk PowerMill used to drive the robots, Autodesk Fusion 360 was also used for developing new approaches to structural optimisation and personalisation of the boats hull design.
Clay printing?
Another exhibit showcased by Autodesk at Formnext, comes after Kolb presented their latest development during a live demonstration at their showroom. Taking the time consuming and cost-intensive element of manually applying clay for car models, Kolb used 3D printing for clay application, clay printing and clay milling, all from one machine powered by Netfabb and PowerMill. On show at Formnext will be 3 scaled down versions of the life sized model, also printed with clay!
Autodesk and Volkswagen
Another headline act at Formnext 2019 will be the two generative designed wheels produced in conjunction with Volkswagen’s Innovation and Engineering Center California. These impressive wheels were part of a bigger project to showcase how emerging technologies are shaping the automotive industry. The Formnext exhibit consisted of two wheels produced using CNC machining and additive manufacturing. The latter representing a 20% reduction in the rolling mass of the wheel compared with traditional methods of manufacture.
