WeMAKE at AU Vegas 2019!

BLOG

Autodesk University is the conference for those who design, make, and build the world around us. AU Las Vegas connects 13,000+ professionals from construction, manufacturing, architecture, engineering, and media creation during 4 days of learning, networking, and knowledge sharing.

Keynote presentations

The AU event included keynote talks from Autodesk President and CEO Andrew Anagnost (click here to watch the session). Andrew focused on Autodesk’s vision of the world, the challenges it is facing, and how technology providers, like Autodesk, are helping our customers like Walt Disney Imagineering and Build Change to make a real difference.

AU Vegas Keynote

Another major highlight was this year’s Design and Manufacturing keynote, hosted by Stephen Hooper. This session provided an update on the latest improvements made to Autodesk Inventor, and Fusion 360 – including the new and improved Fusion 360 Manufacturing Extension, updates to Generative Design, and major enhancements to help design and manufacturing teams to collaborate. The keynote has had more than 60,000 live streams (the number keeps going up) and over 2,200 attendees on the day. You can watch this session on catch-up here.

Situated in the Product Design and Manufacturing Quad, in the main expo hall, the advanced manufacturing team was thrilled to launch a brand new marketing campaign called #WeMAKE.

The #WeMAKE campaign showcases the amazing things our customers make using Autodesk manufacturing software, as well as the impact that we are all collectively having on the world. Over the course of 3 days, the team met with thousands of customers and asked the same three questions:

  1. What do you make?
  2. What Autodesk products do you use?
  3. What impact are you having on your business and the wider world?

We were blown away by the range of parts and products that our customers make and the innovative ways our customers are making a real difference to their daily business. If you want to know more about the #WeMAKE campaign, click on this link; www.autodesk.com/we-make.

#WeMAKE t-shirts!

If you came to AU Vegas, the one thing you won’t have missed was the bright orange #WeMAKE t-shirts.

Over the course of 3 days, we handed out nearly 2,000 t-shirts to attendees to manufacturing classes as well as visitors to the Design and Manufacturing Quad. The brightly colored shirts were designed to stand out from the crowd and included links to our WeMAKE website as well as images that conveyed many of the positive impacts our customers are having on the world around us.

The t-shirts were a massive hit! So much so that our team regularly saw them being worn at the AU Vegas event, and elsewhere within Las Vegas.

Did you collect a #WeMAKE t-shirt during AU? If so, we would love to see you wearing your t-shirt at your workplace! Send in your photos to our social channels or tag us in your pictures using the hashtag #WeMAKE, and we can continue to show how, together, we are making a better world.

Ink Factory Studio artwork

As well as those delightful t-shirts, the team also produced some interactive artwork, with the help of Chicago based illustration company, Ink Factory Studio. This 10ft high, three-sided piece of art, evolved over the course of the AU Vegas event, with two amazing artists taking inspiration from the conversations we were having with our customers. At the end of the week, this impressive piece of art clearly showed the huge range of parts and industries our customers are designing and making with Autodesk.

This artwork will be on permanent display in the Birmingham Technology Centre, in the UK, in the very near future.

Here’s the finished artwork “unwrapped”. Can you see your part on here? If so, let us know on our social channels.

#WeMAKE customer soundbite interviews

Lastly, from the thousands of customer stories we heard, we picked out a hundred of the most amazing customers and asked them to be interviewed in front of a green screen. We captured some great soundbites and will be producing some super cool marketing content in the very near future. Watch this space for a great video!

Customers telling us what they MAKE

During the week, our advanced manufacturing team did a great job of sharing photos and videos on our social platforms! Check out our posts of what went on at AU on InstagramFacebook and Twitter.

Another great year is over, but the countdown for AU Vegas 2020 has already started. We’re expecting more than 15,000 customers to join us in Vegas next year – will you be there? If so, come by and say hi – you might end up with a neat t-shirt, and 5 mins of fame on camera.
