Autodesk supports AIA 2030 commitment with development of DDx API

You can conduct building performance analysis in Revit without building extra models, primarily by using Insight for energy modelling. This real-time feedback Insight provides is helpful for architects looking to understand whole building energy interactions and where efficiencies can be improved, whether through architecture, systems or operation of the building. But the value of energy modeling with Revit and Insight goes further, supporting firms who are signed up for the AIA 2030 Commitment and are designing projects with this commitment in mind.

Building in Revit

The AIA 2030 commitment is the AIA’s (American Institute of Architects) framework to support the Architecture 2030 Challenge, “a breakthrough vision that calls for all new buildings, developments, and major renovations to be carbon-neutral by 2030”. The Commitment is a national framework with simple metrics and a standardized reporting format that provides a structure for tracking progress and helps firms meet the challenge.

Now, Autodesk is proud to announce that — along with AIA– we will be supporting further development of the AIA Design Data Exchange (DDx) API, enabling easier, more extensive reporting. This follows the success of the initial development and is part of our support of the AIA2030 Commitment.

This reporting ability is critical to the AIA 2030 Commitment and is enabled by the 2030 Design Data Exchange (DDx) tool, which makes it easier and faster for firms to track their progress towards the goals across their portfolio. A firm’s ability to meet their commitments, and help the industry reach this critical goal of carbon-neutrality within the built environment, depends in large part on being able to measure progress toward their goals.

Autodesk has seen strong positive customer response to its support of these initiatives so far. We believe this next phase of development of the DDx API with the AIA will greatly enhance the value of the DDx, Insight and since the API is public, will help with the adoption of energy modelling and reporting across the industry.

Insight is available to Revit subscribers and is part of the Autodesk AEC Collection.
