Navisworks & BIM360 Docs Issues – The new best friends on the block!!!

I’ve been talking about the Issues service in BIM360 for some time now:

One example is on my post about Model Checking, check it out here

BIM360 Docs – Model Checking / Design Review with a difference

We have released an add-in for Navisworks, for those people who prefer to do their Model Coordination on the desktop inside Navisworks and also wish to share their aggregated Models so other reviewers to create, review & modify Issues on the Web or Mobile or on the desktop inside Navisworks.

The add-in supports Navisworks 2019 (With SP1) & 2020 and allows you to open your NWD file stored in BIM360 Docs via Desktop Connector and then directly create, review & modify Issues within the model, that then syncs back to BIM 360 Docs in the cloud.

The app gives us a floating Issues panel similar to other Navisworks panels which looks similar to BIM360 Docs Issues panel,

With this first iteration, this awesome add-in now extends the capability of BIM360 Docs on web and mobile, back to our desktop application. Only NWD files stored in the Project Files are supporting in this release.

General Usage Instructions

  • Download and install the latest version of the Autodesk Desktop Connector from here.
  • Download and install the BIM 360 Issues App for Navisworks from here.
  • Sign-in using your Autodesk ID  (If required).
  • Open an NWD file via Desktop Connector that you have published to your Project’s Project Files folder in BIM 360 Docs.

  • Navigate to the BIM 360 Tab within the Navisworks Ribbon Interface.
  • View a list of issues that have been created on the open NWD file.
  • Select Issues to show details in the BIM 360 Issues Panel.
  • View, respond and changes status of Issues.
  • Hit ‘Create Issue’ to create new Issues within Navisworks (Issues are synced back to the cloud).

Here are the two interfaces side by side:

The BIM 360 Issues App for Navisworks now extends the Desktop to the power of the cloud from anywhere, anytime, any device.
