BIM 360 Docs Release Notes Archive

The BIM 360 Docs August 30, 2017 update extends issue management capabilities with support for creation and management of issues on 3D models (in any folder), enhances collaboration with intuitive, secure, document and folder sharing, and delivers usability and quality improvements.

Issues on 3D Models

Now you can create and manage issues on your 3D models managed in either the “Plans” or “Project Files” folders.  To create an issue, drop a pin on the area of the model and enter the fields in the issue form.  A notification will go to the assigned user, role, or company with a direct link to the model and the issue details. From there, the assigned user can respond or reassign, following the same “ball-in-court” workflow available for issues on 2D drawings.

Securely Share Documents or Folders

You can select a document or folder and easily share it with other project members.  Enter the username or email of each project member, and click “send.”  Those users will receive an email with the link to the document or folder.  This process adheres to the security settings for your project, and only users with permission to view the document or folder will be allowed to access to your project data.

This update also includes changes to the default column widths for the list view in “Project Files” folders. These changes are in response to customer feedback for better support of the longer file names required by standards such as PAS 1192-2 in the United Kingdom.

    Hi Terry,

That is a great suggestion and we’ll review and consider when we can fit this into the roadmap.

Love the new Share File/Folder function.  Greatly needed for sending a notification to people and not relying on them to scubscribe to a folder for the update.

One thing that I noticed and would like you to add to the Share function, is to add companies and roles to the list.  This way someone can share a file to a particular group of individuals rather than having to making sure each time to add all the people of the group.  I think this will help a lot when you are trying to share the document with a large distribution of individuals.

    Thank you.
