BIM 360 Docs has a new look! We’re excited to inform you that BIM 360 Docs has been migrated to our next generation BIM 360 user experience. The June 12 Docs update also includes major improvements to the viewing and markup experience, upload enhancements, and the next phase of our PDF export initiative: now you can select multiple PDF drawings that have been published to a “Plans” folder and download them as a multi-page PDF file.
New and improved user experience
The BIM 360 product vision and roadmap includes moving towards a unified, single platform. As of today, BIM 360 Docs has been migrated to our next generation BIM 360 user experience. Now when you log into BIM 360 Docs, you will access your projects via the Document Management module of the next-generation BIM 360 user experience.
The new UI has been carefully designed to make the transition as smooth as possible. All of your projects, members and data are easily accessible, and navigation to features and functions is clearly labeled. While the position and visibility of some functions in the UI has changed, there is no change to the workflows or how the solution works.
Also, the URL for Docs has changed from https://bim360docs.autodesk.com to https://docs.b360.autodesk.com. The previous URL will automatically redirect to the new one, ensuring that your project workflows are not interrupted.

Big Updates for Viewing and Markup
We have updated the BIM 360 web viewer with lots of great improvements, including the new “Split View” for Revit drawings and models, as well as a new MINIMAP feature for improved 2D drawing navigation (for any 2D drawing, including PDF’s). We have also added new polyline and polycloud markup tools, the ability to delete a markup, and improved navigation from the markup panel.
Introducing the “Split View”
If you are managing Revit models and data in your BIM 360 Docs project, you can now see two different views of that model at the same time. The new Split View feature lets you view a 2D sheet and a 3D model view, or two different 2D sheets from the model. If you select an object in one view, it will highlight in the other, enabling you to more easily view and understand the complete design. Start in either 2D or 3D, and select the “Split View” icon in the viewer toolbar. You can also change your second view to any other view that was published from the Revit model.
Markup Improvements
We have added polyline and polycloud markup tools, as well as the highly-requested ability to delete a markup. If you create the markup, you can now delete it. Project Admins also have the ability to delete markups if needed.
PDF Drawing Export
In the last update, we delivered the first of a multi-phase initiative for exporting PDF drawing sheets published to the “Plans” folders. In this second phase (more to follow), we’re providing the ability to select multiple drawings at once and download them as a single multi-page PDF file.
Upload and publishing enhancements
We now provide more information on the current status of files that your are uploading and publishing to the “Plans” folders.
We hope that you will enjoy the new Docs user experience as much as we do! Please let us know what you think about it, and please provide us with any feedback you might have on the new viewing, markup, download, and publishing improvements!
Hi Joan
Just talk to my bim manager, and he upgrade my rank to edit markups, thanks for your help!
cheers
Gil
Hi Gil,
You need to have the folder permission of “edit” or higher in order to publish a markup for all project members to see. Do you know what your permission is set to for that folder?

Hi Joan
i put a few markups on sheets, but all of them appears in private view, now i cant change them to publish, not the previous or new ones, no icon appears in toolbar, if i see them in a mobile app an icon appears but at desk i cant do anything.
Any help will be appreciated
thanks
Gil
HI CJ –
Thanks for the feedback on markups. We have some more markup enhancements in the works (edit and private / publish settings), which should provide the straightforward user experience you seek. Stay tuned!

I have been testing the delete markup function and it is a little funny. It appears you only have the ability to delete a “Open” Markup. Once the markup is closed is is permanently on the drawing and their is no delete options, even for administrators. Is this by design? Because people make mistakes and it would be nice to have the ability to delete or re-open and delete when it makes sense. If you choose to leave it this way the popup should also state once the item is closed then you will no longer have the ability to delete it.
I also see that the UI has officially lost the ‘Docs’ title. Do we now start referring to it simply as BIM 360?
Hey Joan… nice work to you and your team! An issue we’re still having is that sheet descriptions sometimes change between DD & SD (silly designers). The automatic slip sheeting doesn’t work when this is the case, and we get a new version of an existing sheet. We then have to delete it and start over. Is there anything you all are working on to relate the same drawing so the versioning is continued correctly? Even if we have to manually point a V1 to the correct location that’d be fine, so long as we have the ability. Or, perhaps you could implement that nifty AI and have it sniff out where to slip sheet without associating a title block or anything? (That wouldn’t be that hard… would it?) 🙂 Really excited of the potential here!
Would it be possible to generate a report from the Issue’s list? That would be pretty handy after site walks.
Hi Team,
The 2D/3D split screen is great – what are the requirements to get that working with any Revit file (the split screen button did not appear when I’ve just tested it).
Also, all customers I am talking to will never get .rvt files only but mainly .ifc (3D) and .pdf (2D). So we clearly need a 2D/3D combined viewing experience for OpenBIM projects.
Thanks,
Gilbert
Hi Andy_Leek,
How did you export these plans from Revit?
For instance, did you first export to DWF and then upload to Docs, or did you upload the original RVT file?
If you’d like, you could share a sample RVT file, that is being presented as a raster, with our development team.
We can then try and figure out what’s causing it in this case.
Best Regards,
Doreen
Not to repeat myself, but, the description below (and images posted above) lead me to believe I should be able to select a door on a plan (extracted from Revit) and it would highlight in the model using split view. The plans I extracted from Revit all present as raster, not 2D “cad’ish” plans. What gives?
Introducing the “Split View”
………..”If you select an object in one view, it will highlight in the other, enabling you to more easily view and understand the complete design. Start in either 2D or 3D, and select the “Split View” icon in the viewer toolbar.“……………
Great work to the team. I love the fact that this product is improving all the time. Keep up the good work.
Andrew
Thanks to all three of you for the comments and questions!
1) At this time, the PDF download from the “Plans” folders is for drawings generated from a source PDF file only. In the future, we plan to extend these capabilities to 2D drawings extracted from a Revit model.
2) The Split View is for Revit-generated drawings and models only. Object properties and related 3D views are not available for 2D raster drawings.
3) We plan add the “delete markup” action in the Activity Log in a future update.
If you have any other questions or comments, please let us know!
Best Regards,
Joan
When I tried the new delete mark-up function, I created a new mark-up and then deleted it. Absolutely no issue there. But when I looked at the activity log, it only had the creation of the mark-up and not the deletion of the mark-up in the Activity Log. The deletion of mark-ups should be included in the activity log as well.
Thanks
Terry
So, is there a setting that enables the Split view feature to enable the 2D “sheet” to have selectable objects? Currently I only have a raster 2D plan, and nothing is selectable.
With the ability to download multiple single-page sheets as a multi-page pdf, will that work with sheets extracted from Revit files? Or only with sheets uploaded/extracted from pdf format?
