Structural engineers and fabricators all around the world are taking advantage of BIM-centric workflows for the analysis, design and manufacturing of steel structures. Autodesk’s App Store is one of the places where these “pieces come together” with new applications linked to Autodesk flagship products.
One of them is IDEA StatiCa Connection, published in August. It enables users of Advance Steel and Robot Structural Analysis to design and check any steel joint according to Eurocode or AISC.
After both programs are installed, run file Idea4AS2016.bat or Idea4AS2017.bat (according to installed Advance Steel version) in the folder where IDEA StatiCa was installed. Then run a “Concheck” command in Advance Steel and start the workflow:
Joint design should be defined by the project requirements, not vice versa. IDEA StatiCa Connection provides all necessary checks of all joint topologies. And it does it in minutes.
After activating the plugin for Robot Structural Analysis, you can select any joint in the project and get the check you need for your project:
This app was developed by IDEA RS, AEC Solution Associate of Autodesk. Its integration into the BIM process helps structural engineers better design and optimize their steel connections.
