{"id":1227,"date":"2018-04-17T21:47:38","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T21:47:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/bim360-release-notes\/?p=1227"},"modified":"2018-04-17T21:53:16","modified_gmt":"2018-04-17T21:53:16","slug":"bim-360-docs-update-april-16-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/bim360-release-notes\/2018\/04\/17\/bim-360-docs-update-april-16-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"BIM 360 Docs Update &#8211; April 16, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Introduction<\/h3>\n<p>The latest BIM 360 Docs update includes the following improvements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New viewing option for PDF files such as specifications, manuals, and other documents managed in &#8220;Project Files&#8221; folders<\/li>\n<li>Updated project and account navigation, now with project and account images<\/li>\n<li>BIM 360 Docs iOS Version 2.10.5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Improved PDF specification and file viewing<\/h3>\n<p>Until now, BIM 360 Document Management has provided the same viewing experience for all PDF files:\u00a0 drawings, specifications, and other documents.\u00a0 While the current &#8220;BIM Viewer&#8221; in Docs works well for models and\u00a0PDF drawings, many of you have told us that it has been challenging to view and navigate other PDF files, such as specifications, with this viewer.\u00a0 We are pleased to announce a new option for &#8220;Project Files&#8221; folders. This feature provides a folder-level setting, controlled by admins, which determines the default PDF viewing experience for all project members.<\/p>\n<p>With this feature, admins can set up the appropriate default viewing experience in &#8220;Project Files&#8221; folders (there is no change to &#8220;Plans&#8221; folders, which are specifically designed for managing and publishing drawings).\u00a0 This setting can be applied on a folder-by-folder basis, with an option to apply to a folder and its subfolders.\u00a0 For folders containing Specifications, we recommend setting the viewing preference to &#8220;Open in browser.&#8221;\u00a0 For folders containing PDF drawings, we recommend setting the &#8220;BIM Viewer&#8221; option.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a short video showing how this works:<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-1227-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"381\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/bim360-release-notes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/127\/2018\/04\/April-2018-PDF-viewing.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/bim360-release-notes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/127\/2018\/04\/April-2018-PDF-viewing.mp4\">https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/bim360-release-notes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/127\/2018\/04\/April-2018-PDF-viewing.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to providing a better PDF file viewing experience for specifications, manuals, and other files, this also provides the ability to search for text within the document, download, and print directly from the browser.\u00a0\u00a0It is important to note that in this viewing mode, Markups, Issues, and RFI&#8217;s are not visible.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of which default setting you choose, the other viewer is always available as an option for your project team members.\u00a0 For example, if the &#8220;Open in browser&#8221;
