With constraints set, members entering attribute values will only be permitted to enter text that conforms to the constraints.<\/p>\n<h3>Setting Constraints: Character Settings For Text Field Attributes<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2857\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/bim360-release-notes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/127\/2021\/10\/01\/text-field-settings-.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"217\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/bim360-release-notes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/127\/2021\/10\/01\/text-field-settings-.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/bim360-release-notes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/127\/2021\/10\/01\/text-field-settings--300x109.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Set <strong>Character setting<\/strong> constraints for text field attributes:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Character length:<\/strong> Select from: Any, Fixed, or Range.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any &#8211; Allows members to enter a maximum 255 characters as a value.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed &#8211; Fix the value length to be an exact number from 1 to 10 characters.<\/li>\n<li>Range &#8211; Select a value range from 1 to 10 characters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Character type:<\/strong> Select from Alphanumeric, Text, or Numeric.<\/p>\n<h3>Editing Constraints: Editing Character Settings and Editing Dropdown Values<\/h3>\n<p>Project Administrators can edit attributes on the project. Members with edit or folder control permissions can&#8217;t edit attributes which are added to folders by other members, but can edit attributes they have added to folders themselves.<\/p>\n<p>The new text attribute character settings can be edited at any time if those attributes are NOT part of the project&#8217;s Naming Standard. Additionally, dropdown attribute values may be renamed if the dropdown attribute is not part of the Naming Standard.<\/p>\n<p>Changes to text field attribute character settings will not automatically change any existing document attribute values which do not comply with the changed constraints.
