1 min read

Meet Johnson Shiue – Senior Test Engineer for Inventor. Johnson has always been a very active participant in our Community Forums, and recently agreed to be interviewed for this blog so that you could all get to know him better.

As the most senior test engineer on Inventor, I have the privilege to work with our users worldwide for 20 plus years. Because of our diverse user base, I am able to transform from a Taiwanese mechanical engineering student to a fervent Inventor user advocate. I live in Michigan with my wife, my son, and two dogs.

Your enthusiasm inspires me. Your issues educate me. Your loyalty strengthens me. Your praises nourish me. I cannot thank you enough. I look forward to helping, understanding, and resolving your Inventor related issues whenever there is an opportunity.

How long have you worked for Autodesk?

25 years

How would you describe your role at Autodesk? What does a typical workday look like?

I am an Inventor expert. I know its goods, bads, and unthinkables relatively well. So, I get inquiries about Inventor internally and externally daily. Every morning, I start my day with answering internal requests and end my day with external requests. This is on top of my day job watching over Inventor and its updates quality as a whole.

What do you find interesting about your role? What are the challenges? What do you find satisfying about your work?

The opportunity to work with a diverse group of users worldwide is the most fascinating part of my job. Sometimes it can be difficult to get an idea or a piece of information to pass through internally and externally. Whenever an issue is resolved always brings me a smile.

What drives you to be involved with the Community as much as you are?

As an Inventor expert, I have reviewed more than 100k Inventor issues and related models. The understanding I accumulated over the years is enormous. This is why I am usually in quite a few critical issue discussions. Getting involved in the Community more enables me to help our users more directly.
