Architecture software for data-informed decision making
Forma lets designers apply early-stage project data, goals and constraints to concept designs, using AI-powered alternatives to explore options in an iterative process.
Generative design using the cloud-based tools integrated in the architecture software enables quick and simplified evaluation of environmental factors affecting your site and project. This helps teams make informed decisions that keep the project moving forward.
The unified data environment in Forma connects with other third-party platforms such as FormIt, Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, TestFit, and ShapeDiver. Use any and/or all the above, to develop a concept that enriches the urban fabric around your site.
Share your talent and inspire innovation
Autodesk’s Forma design contest not only offers an opportunity to showcase your creativity using Autodesk’s next generation industry cloud tools, it’s also an opportunity to fuel ideas and share how others are using Forma and collectively elevate tools that enhance the design process.

The contest is open now until August 21, 2023. Winners will be announced September 9, 2023.
Follow the project criteria
Entries must consist of a mixed-use project consisting of approximately 20% commercial, 40% office, and 40% residential.
They’ll be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Architectural Design: How well does the design enhance the urban fabric of the site?
- Living Qualities: Show how you optimized design using Autodesk’s analysis tools. Emphasize aspects and effects from the site such as sun exposure, shadow areas, daylight access, wind flow, and outdoor microclimate.
- Storytelling: Explain your design decisions in a data-driven manner. Showcase how Forma served as a vital decision support tool. Incorporate third-party tools to demonstrate your workflow as needed.
Show viewers how Forma helps you make decisions in the design and architecture sphere.
Additional Autodesk Forma contest requirements:
General requirements
Projects must be created within the US Forma demo project, available to both existing and trial users.
Ensure your design adheres to the requirements of a minimum of 7.1 million sq.ft. GFA and a maximum of 14 million sq.ft. GFA.
The program should consist of approximately 20% commercial, 40% office, and 40% residential spaces.
Entry format
Your entry must be delivered as a screen-recorded video with a voice-over in English. It must be at least two minutes long, but no longer than three.
Tell a compelling data-driven story through your design and voiceover. Please note that some video editing such as joined cuts and accelerated timing is allowed, but no other effects will be accepted (e.g. transitions, subtitles, etc).
Eligibility
Please note that the contest is open to natural personas aged 18 and above, excluding citizens or residents of countries subject to U.S. trade embargoes, as well as Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Turkey, Romania, and Poland.
Commercial, educational, and trial users are all eligible to participate.
