We are excited to announce that Autodesk is bringing FormIt Pro and Forma capabilities together to create a unified design experience that will transform early-stage building planning and design.
With Forma, Autodesk will provide an improved design environment for architects and other AEC professionals, initially focusing on the planning phase for building projects of all sizes. Over time, Forma will expand its capabilities, representing a significant increase in Autodesk’s early-phase investments.
FormIt Pro’s conceptual modeling features are now part of Forma, allowing for intuitive modeling of complex shapes and powerful editing of Forma elements while supporting building functions and area metrics. This integration means that architects can benefit from combining our 3D Sketch modeling with powerful outcome-based design analyses in one environment.
To accelerate this transition, we will focus our investments on the development of Forma. This means FormIt is no longer being actively developed, and any future releases will only address critical security issues that may arise. To support existing FormIt users, we will make it is easy to transfer geometry and proposals from FormIt to Forma.
While we build out the next phases of Forma, we will maintain the existing FormIt Pro offering until your contract expires. If your subscription has expired and you need more time to transition, please contact your administrator or Autodesk support about our Flex program.
Since its launch in May 2023, we have already added more than 200 new features and capabilities and introduced connections to Revit, Rhino and Dynamo. We have high ambitions for Forma and envision a future where customers can enjoy innovative conceptual modeling capabilities, outcome-based analysis, bridges to more detailed modeling, and more, all within the same environment.
The future of early-stage design is bright, and we’re excited to share it with you. We encourage you to try Forma in your workflows and projects – login today.

“Forma has almost zero learning curve and it’s very easy to scale up. What we enjoyed the most, is to see how my colleagues, regardless of the level of experience they have, understand their design from different points of view. What is there not to love?”
Angie Menendez, Architect and Technology Director at A-lab
