shape<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Launch <strong>3D Sketch<\/strong> by click the <strong>New 3D Sketch<\/strong> button in the Design toolbar<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <strong>Cuboid <\/strong>tool from the<strong> 3D shapes <\/strong>menuto draw a 40\u2019 cube.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select a face and click again to extrude it by 100\u2019.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat the same action in the perpendicular direction to create a square footprint for your 3D volume.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_8c007b25ea\">Step 2: Design your 3D volume<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_b5cd848c47\">Extrude faces<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the <strong>Line<\/strong> tool to draw lines that start and end at edges, to split the roof into two surfaces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select one of the split surfaces and click again to extrude it downward through the volume.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply the same technique to vertical surfaces.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Pro tip: Use edge midpoints for accuracy when drawing lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_d27c5fda98\">Add a pitched roof<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the <strong>Line<\/strong> tool to split part of the roof into a square or rectangle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the split surface and extrude it up by 20&#8242;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Draw a line on the surface that represents the ridge of the pitched roof.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the roof edges that are parallel to the ridge line.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <strong>Move<\/strong> tool to move the selected edges downward along the Z axis and snap to the rest of the roof.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pro tip: Hold <strong>Shift<\/strong> to lock the movement direction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_246c73027a\">Add an asymmetrical angled roof<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use the <strong>Line<\/strong> tool to split part of the remaining flat roof into a square or rectangle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the outer edge of the split surface and extrude it upward along the Z axis.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_5fdc1cc943\">Add a curve<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start the <strong>Arc by three points<\/strong> tool from the <strong>Sketch<\/strong> menu in the toolbar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the first two points to intersect with roof edges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the third point to define the curve.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the surface outside the arc and extrude it downward to the desired level.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_c8a9790f23\">Step 3: Convert your 3D volume into a 3D Sketch Building<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the <strong>plus<\/strong> icon next to <strong>Add floors<\/strong> in the right panel.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lines will appear on the 3D volume to indicate how he default floor heights stack up on your design.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your <strong>Generic 3D Sketch<\/strong> is now a <strong>3D Sketch Building<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust the number of floors, default floor height and height of individual floors in the <strong>Floors <\/strong>section in the right panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the building\u2019s <strong>Area metrics<\/strong> in the right panel.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Area metrics are only calculated for <strong>Buildings<\/strong> within a <strong>Site Limit.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_41a5093b40\">Step 4: Assign floor Functions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Exit <strong>3D Sketch<\/strong> by pressing <strong>Esc<\/strong> or the <strong>X<\/strong> in the toolbar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select one or more floor volumes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tag your selection with a <strong>Function<\/strong> from the <strong>Right panel<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expand the <strong>Gross Floor Area<\/strong> under <strong>Area metrics<\/strong> to view the breakdown by
