Now, you are itching to amp up the details in BIM and send your conceptual design into the world of Revit, and if you make some snazzy changes in Revit, you can send those updates back to Forma. Sweet, right?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/forma\/overview\">Forma<\/a> offers a fantastic feature for those looking to scale up their conceptual proposal to the next level. With the updated <strong>Forma Add-in for Revit<\/strong>, you can turn a Forma proposal into a Revit project. And if you make further updates, you can easily send them back to Forma for more analysis and validation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top Features of the Forma and Revit Integration\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The add-in provides two different directions of data synchronization:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Forma to Revit Transfer<\/strong>: \u2018Send to Revit\u2019 the content of a Forma proposal.&nbsp; Then, from a Revit project, you can load from Forma the geometric content of a proposal. At present, you can only send a Forma proposal to Revit once.&nbsp; Subsequent modifications made in Forma will not auto-update in Revit unless you are starting a new Revit project.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Revit to Forma Updates<\/strong>: \u2018Update a proposal\u2019 in Forma with content edited in Revit, refining your design iteratively. Follow the prompts, and you are on your way.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Make the Connection:<\/em> Back in Forma, pick your proposal, and simply click \u2018Send to Revit\u2019 in the three-dot menu for the proposal of your interest.&nbsp; Thinking of going back and forth between the two? Duplicate your Forma design and send that twin over to Revit.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Revit\u2019s Welcome Party<\/em>: Kickstart Revit, make a new project, and hit &#8216;Load Proposal&#8217; in the Massing and Site tab. Choose your translation option, and boom! Your Forma masterpiece is now vibing in Revit, full of walls, topography, roofs, levels, and more.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Revit\u2019s Return Gifts to Forma:<\/em> Once you modify, delete, or add elements to this Revit project, you will have multiple opportunities to update your proposal in Forma.&nbsp; Hit the \u2018Update Proposal\u2019 button under the Massing &amp; Site tab and refresh the Forma URL project (F5).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s New in the Forma-Revit Integration (April 2025)\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its introduction, the integration between Autodesk Forma and Revit has seen several incremental updates, enhancing workflows and fostering better project collaboration. Forma uses the site UTM coordinate system that aligns with the Revit project base point, ensuring an accurate match.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To avoid overwriting existing georeferenced systems in Revit, bring your Forma proposal into a new project and link to the existing site.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Forma translation does not support Revit Design Options.&nbsp; Accept the primary option before loading a Forma proposal.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before updating a Forma proposal, keep things simple in Revit. Adding too much detail may slow things down when you&#8217;re working in Forma.&nbsp; Create a dedicated view and apply view graphic overrides to keep the level of detail to the minimum necessary (eg, exclude railings, interior furniture, equipment, etc.).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br>Known Limitations&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Integration often presents challenges, and we are diligently working behind the scenes to refine this workflow. To ensure transparency, we want to highlight several limitations currently under our focus:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Incompatibility with the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.autodesk.com\/view\/RVT\/2023\/ENU\/?guid=GUID-33EE6A21-B895-47AB-9C3B-D8C4A9CB8AC3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FormIt Converter<\/a> for certain 3D Sketch elements.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multiple loads from Forma to Revit are not supported.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mesh updates imported from Revit into Forma offer limited editability.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Linked Revit data is not updated to Forma&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.autodesk.com\/SPCMKR\/en\/Detail\/Index?id=8148022216597262265&amp;appLang=en&amp;os=Web\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TestFit parking<\/a> elements are not yet transferable.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dive in!&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Merging the best of Forma and Revit is a groundbreaking workflow for designers.
