Over the years we\u2019ve all gotten creative with folder structures so that users can easily find the project data they need. Often times companies I talk to like to organize their folders by something like year, customer and project number, like so\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fromthegroundup.typepad.com\/.a\/6a01127918d1ef28a401910426aaab970c-pi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"P2\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px;border-right-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P2\" src=\"http:\/\/fromthegroundup.typepad.com\/.a\/6a01127918d1ef28a401910426aab2970c-pi\" width=\"350\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>One of the very handy updates to Vault Professional 2014 is the ability of Civil 3D to create projects in subfolders within the Vault folder structure. This makes it very easy for users to find data in a structure they are familiar with.<\/p>\n<p>When you create a project inside of Civil 3D there is a new \u201cFolder\u201d option to choose from\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fromthegroundup.typepad.com\/.a\/6a01127918d1ef28a401901e308584970b-pi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"P3\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px;border-right-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P3\" src=\"http:\/\/fromthegroundup.typepad.com\/.a\/6a01127918d1ef28a401901e308588970b-pi\" width=\"350\" height=\"143\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>This is allows you to browse to the folder you want to create your Civil 3D project in, even if it\u2019s in a subfolder\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fromthegroundup.typepad.com\/.a\/6a01127918d1ef28a40192abefb9e2970d-pi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"P1\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px;border-right-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P1\" src=\"http:\/\/fromthegroundup.typepad.com\/.a\/6a01127918d1ef28a40192abefb9e8970d-pi\" width=\"350\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Once created you can now see the Civil 3D project in context of the greater project folder structure\u2026<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/fromthegroundup.typepad.com\/.a\/6a01127918d1ef28a401901e308595970b-pi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"P4\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px;border-right-width: 0px;border-bottom-width: 0px;border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P4\" src=\"http:\/\/fromthegroundup.typepad.com\/.a\/6a01127918d1ef28a401910426aac3970c-pi\" width=\"350\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a>   <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Other side benefits of this of course allow users to organize projects by phases, meet the requirement of multiple databases per project and the need to organize Civil 3D objects into sub-folders.
