INTRODUCING COLLABORATION FOR PLANT 3D WITH BIM 360

Enhanced cloud-based collaboration for plant designers and engineers

March 25, 2020.  We are excited to introduce Autodesk Collaboration for Plant 3D.  This release expands our BIM 360 platform to include a connection with the AutoCAD Plant 3D toolset.  Now, with Collaboration for Plant 3D, plant designers and engineers can more effectively manage access permissions and enable project teams to share files more securely and collaborate more effectively any time and from anywhere, whether within one firm or across multiple organizations.

“Using Plant 3D With BIM 360 has shown great potential for expanding our workflow integration With teams from design straight through construction and inspection, providing a more intuitive and verifiable flow of data between teams. This tool would also be extreme & helpful in dealing With 3rd party engineering service firms; allowing for complete control of all project setup and configurations.
Thus, helping to remove risks of others modifying the system causing potential errors in design.”

Kevin Gallagher, Sr- Drafting Support Tech

“When it comes to project collaboration, I’ve heard from many of our water/wastewater and plant customers that being able to manage permissions is key to be more efficient as they can better enforce access controls to their project files.  That’s why I’m excited with the release of Collaboration for Plant 3D.  Now users can experience more enhanced collaboration and increased transparency and accountability among stakeholders, all based on a common data platform, helping them better integrate project workflows from design to construction.”

– Carolina Venegas Martinez, Strategy Manager, Autodesk Inc.

Collaboration for Plant 3D makes it easy for project administrators to specify appropriate levels of access and permissions to files before sharing plant projects with key stakeholders.  P&ID drafters can work on the P&IDs for the project and share those with piping designers who can utilize the P&IDs to create the project’s piping models.  Drafters can more easily collaborate with piping designers to generate the necessary ortho and iso drawings.  And from start to finish, project managers can check project progress at any stage and assign tasks to get the project completed on time, on budget, and with the highest quality.

“The release of Collaboration for Plant 3D is very exciting for me as we now offer our water/wastewater and process plant customers project collaboration that is based on our next-generation BIM 360 technology platform.  Having our core design authoring tools – Revit, Civil 3D, and now Plant 3D – connected to BIM 360 as the common data platform truly facilitates our customers’ ability to work more efficiently across project disciplines to improve decision making, minimize data loss, and mitigate project risks.”

– Misha Belilovskiy, Director AutoCAD Family, Autodesk Inc.

“The AutoCAD Plant3D integration With BIM 360 provides a Single location for all work-in-progress data, simplifying access for Black & Veatch’s global project teams. The performance and reliability of the BIM 360 platform has helped increase collaboration and communication, With internal and external teams, without the need for specialized IT systems- Hosting AutoCAD Plant 30 data in BIM 360 alongside Revit and Civil 3D provides opportunity for our project teams to benefit from additional features such as markups, transmittals, and issues tracking- Additionally, Autodesk Forge is allowing Black & Veatch to rapidly innovate, creating new workflows and digital experiences for our clients and project teams- On our digital transformation journey, our partnership With Autodesk has been instrumental to our success.”

Dave Reed, Technology Manager, Black & Veatch

Today, the BIM 360 Design collaboration entitlements expands from Revit Cloud Worksharing andCollaboration for Civil 3D to include Collaboration for Plant 3Dall on the same platform.  For AEC firms, this means that architects, engineers, and contractors working on water treatment plants, airports, rail stations, and other complex infrastructure projects that incorporate vertical and horizontal structures can now collaborate more simply and efficiently.  This is a leap forward to further helping our customers’ meet their needs to work more collaboratively across project disciplines.  And we’re just getting started.
