Autodesk is sponsoring an unprecedented RV tour of the United States that celebrates the future of how things are designed and made. Led by TJ McCue, host, writer, and 3D enthusiast, the 3D RV tour is visiting America’s cities, towns and off-the-beaten-path byways to explore a powerful and fundamental change in the way things are designed and made, and the implications to business and to society at large.

“Autodesk is at the forefront of the future of how things are made, and this tour is a chance for us to celebrate the innovators and creative minds doing that important work with our technology and inspire others along the way,” said Amar Hanspal, senior vice president at Autodesk.

With 100 stops and counting planned over the course of the next eight months, the 3D RV road tour will explore the following themes and more through visits with companies, students and everyday people across America:

  • 3D design is now much more accessible. Students, professionals, and consumers can now all use 3D design on their computers, mobile devices, and tablets – at no or low cost.
  • Digital fabrication has exploded. See 3D printing and other digital manufacturing methods      applied in industries that we’d never imagined.
  • The rise in mobile and cloud technology means that it’s possible to design anywhere, at any time.
  • It’s become much easier to capture reality – so designers can start with a model of what exists, rather than a blank page.

“I’m truly inspired by the work that Autodesk is doing to advance design and design-thinking. They are pioneers looking for how to tap into the new face of manufacturing, to break down barriers in design, and give everyone an opportunity to be a designer, to be an inventor, to be able to bring their dreams to life,” said TJ McCue, owner of Refine Digital.  “I’m honored to be a part of this nationwide roadtrip – to be one piece of this journey that will take the pulse of 3D and report on what’s happening in the US and abroad.”

Additional sponsors include HP, Nvidia, Stratasys, FARO and Jayco.
