Ajmal Perfumes is a Middle Eastern fragrance manufacturer and retailer headquartered in Dubai. The company had been using 2D design software for new perfume bottles, applicators and packaging. A design team of three needed a week to design a single new product. When production ramped up to around 200 designs annually, they realized they needed a more efficient workflow. This includes the reduction of time to market and the ability to deliver more complex product design.
Abdulla Ajmal, General Manager at Ajmal Perfumes, talked about their requirements: “We needed a platform that would allow for fast and easy modeling. The software had to be compliant with industry standards and provide support for other MCAD files. Cost was also taken into consideration.”
Ajmal Perfumes decided to build its 3D workflow using Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk 3ds Max Design software. This workflow has helped with the production of accurate 3D digital prototypes that aid in the virtual design, visualization and simulation of products.
“Autodesk solutions have provided us with substantial time savings over our previous implementations. The new arrangement is 50 percent faster and allows us to move on to new projects a lot quicker,” says Abdulla. “Both Inventor and 3ds Max Design software have been extremely beneficial to us. Autodesk technology lets us visualize a design before we can actually make it. This allows us to make changes, without having to invest anything more than time. I think that is invaluable.”
“We plan to continue using Autodesk software. In fact, we hope that the future sees a greater integration of design software and production facilities. We believe that general improvements in software and the introduction of additional tools will help make the creation process even easier.”
