For their efforts, the students have been named the Autodesk November Inventor of the Month. Autodesk names an Inventor of the Month each month for designers who use Autodesk software in an innovative fashion.<\/p>\n<p>\n<a class=\"asset-img-link\" href=\"http:\/\/inthefold.typepad.com\/.a\/6a017c3334c51a970b017c3414c665970b-pi\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"RENDER_MAIN\" border=\"0\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a017c3334c51a970b017c3414c665970b image-full\" src=\"http:\/\/inthefold.typepad.com\/.a\/6a017c3334c51a970b017c3414c665970b-800wi\" title=\"RENDER_MAIN\" \/><\/a><br \/>The Aurora project focused on the challenge of designing a car that would be suitable for megacity environments where large, growing populations can quickly contribute to pollution and environmental strain.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than relying on a fuel-hungry central combustion engine, theAurora uses hybrid&#160; propellingtechnologies to power the car. Magnetic propulsion provides power for city driving, while the car\u2019s suspension converts the car\u2019s upward and downward motion into energy that can be stored in rechargeable batteries connected to localized motors on the rear wheels.<\/p>\n<p>The concept car also features virtual interactive controllers connected to smart traffic clearinghouses, to automated driving systems, and to the houses and offices of the users \u2014 representing an embrace of developing automotive trends such as smart traffic systems and autonomous transport. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Autodesk Software Powers Students\u2019 Innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving access to Autodesk software gave our students the tools to reimagine what an urban car should look like in the 21<sup>st<\/sup> century,\u201d said Juan Jos\u00e9 Ramos, director of the Mexico-based industrial design firm DX Consulting and instructor in Automotive Design at Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey. \u201cAutodesk software aided their progress at every stage of the design concept.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The student team \u2014 including Julio Valenzuela, Monserrat Gonz\u00e1lez, Pablo Ram\u00edrez and Carlos V\u00e1squez \u2014 used&#160;<a href=\"http:\/\/usa.autodesk.com\/adsk\/servlet\/pc\/index?id=6848332&amp;siteID=123112\" target=\"_self\">Autodesk SketchBook Pro<\/a>&#160;software to create digital sketches and <a href=\"http:\/\/usa.autodesk.com\/alias\/\">Autodesk Alias Design<\/a>&#160;software to create virtual models of the Aurora concept car.
