{"id":113,"date":"2015-10-02T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-10-02T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/inthefold\/2015\/10\/02\/autodesk-launches-tech-preview-of-future-structural-analysis-platform-called-react-structures\/"},"modified":"2016-04-22T21:04:20","modified_gmt":"2016-04-22T21:04:20","slug":"autodesk-launches-tech-preview-of-future-structural-analysis-platform-called-react-structures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.autodesk.com\/inthefold\/autodesk-launches-tech-preview-of-future-structural-analysis-platform-called-react-structures\/","title":{"rendered":"Autodesk Launches Tech Preview of Structural Analysis Platform Called React Structures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Structural engineering community invited to experience and guide development of a new, efficient structural analysis environment connected to the BIM process<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>By <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mexelplex\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Michael Gustafson<\/em><\/a><em>, P.E., Industry Strategy Manager \u2013 Structural Engineering, Autodesk<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve got great news for structural engineers with the launch of a <a href=\"https:\/\/react.autodesk.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">public preview<\/a> of Autodesk React Structures, a new structural analysis platform specifically designed for today\u2019s structural engineers working within a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/solutions\/building-information-modeling\/overview\" target=\"_blank\">Building Information Modeling<\/a> [BIM] workflow.\u00a0 In fact, we\u2019re making the announcement today via a presentation at the NCSEA\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncsea.com\/meetings\/annualconference\/\" target=\"_blank\">Structural Engineering Summit<\/a> in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>Let me set the stage to help explain why React Structures will be so significant.\u00a0 Today, the building engineering industry is experiencing a convergence of critical needs where engineers, fabricators and builders expect greater levels of collaboration to keep pace with demanding project complexity and faster construction schedules.\u00a0 The forces driving this set of needs collectively is something we call \u201c<em>BIM to Fabrication<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 With that context in mind, structural engineers expect to use easy-to-learn structural engineering software solutions that connect their structural designs to the BIM process to help reduce errors and waste not only internally but downstream in the project lifecycle. The challenge is to foster greater productivity for structural design and, in turn, deliver better designs to the client.\u00a0 React Structures aims to address this need.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, our structural engineering customers have expressed a need for a new, modern, efficient structural analysis environment connected to BIM.\u00a0 They told us they\u2019re not satisfied with the existing offerings available in the market, as they take too long to learn, and are often too hard to use efficiently and don\u2019t connect well to the BIM process.\u00a0 Our aim with React Structures is to go beyond the solid foundation of Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional to give structural engineers a much more approachable and immediately applicable solution.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"asset-img-link\" href=\"http:\/\/inthefold.autodesk.com\/.a\/6a017c3334c51a970b01bb087b3bb6970d-pi\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a017c3334c51a970b01bb087b3bb6970d image-full img-responsive\" title=\"2015-10-01_React Structures_USAFA_Cadet_Chapel\" src=\"http:\/\/inthefold.autodesk.com\/.a\/6a017c3334c51a970b01bb087b3bb6970d-800wi\" alt=\"2015-10-01_React Structures_USAFA_Cadet_Chapel\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><em>Autodesk React Structures, an all-new structural analysis platform specifically designed for today\u2019s building project engineers working within a Building Information Modeling [BIM] workflow.\u00a0 Shown here are results being displayed on the model after analysis has been completed for the US Air Force Academy Chapel.\u00a0 Image courtesy of Autodesk.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Based on Autodesk\u2019s trusted analysis technology foundation, Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional &#8212; which has a proven track record globally on projects ranging from bridges to stadiums, and offshore structures to the most demanding buildings &#8212; React Structures represents a major step forward by introducing a new workflow-based analysis modeling environment.\u00a0 It is much more than a \u201cface lift\u201d of Robot Structural Analysis.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, it is a completely new implementation of workflow-based structural modeling and analysis employing modern software design principles, and aligned with the rest of the Autodesk portfolio.\u00a0 Most important of all, React Structures embodies features based on extensive user experience research to create a highly easy to use and learn structural analysis platform, opening the door for more engineers than ever before to incorporate its benefits into their BIM design process.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re inviting the structural engineering community to try out a special tech preview of Autodesk React Structures to provide feedback on key areas for the further development of this innovative structural analysis platform.\u00a0 Three key experiences await reviewers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, engineers will be able to use an intuitive 3D analysis modeler that will allow users to quickly develop analytical representations of their designs.
