New ways for a workshop to work? Here are some stories that caught our attention this week.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BUILD it and they will come. <\/strong>Ideas come in, companies come out. See what\u2019s happening in the Autodesk workshop and incubator <a href=\"http:\/\/wbur.fm\/2DOJLOt\">on the edge of the Massachusetts Bay<\/a> in this piece from NPR\u2019s Boston affiliate. Or check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.architectmagazine.com\/practice\/the-800-pound-gorilla-autodesk-sees-a-digital-future-for-architecture-firsthand_o\">Architect Magazine<\/a>\u2019s take on the \u2018BUILD Space\u2019.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Smooth moves. <\/strong>Often, the hardest thing for robots to do is be gentle. A team of researchers is pioneering soft actuators that mimic the \u201cnatural\u201d movements of our muscles and may one day enable robots to handle the most delicate of tasks. Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/a-clever-new-robotic-muscle-seriously-lifts-bro\/\">WIRED\u2019s <\/a>coverage or go <a href=\"http:\/\/science.sciencemag.org\/content\/359\/6371\/61\">straight to the source<\/a> in Science.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get your mind right. <\/strong>The rise of robotics and AI pose very real concerns for the fate of many jobs. We like this fresh, pragmatic perspective\u2014not overly optimistic or excessively dire\u2014on the skills you\u2019ll need to thrive in the automated future <a href=\"https:\/\/hackernoon.com\/we-arent-prepared-for-an-automated-future-34161bed1775\">from Hackernoon<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Heavy metal. <\/strong>We\u2019re big believers in the potential for metal 3D printing. Apparently Warren Buffet is too. It\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/redshift\/additive-manufacturing-technologies\/\">something we talk about<\/a>\u00a0a lot. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com\/investing\/2018\/01\/08\/warren-buffett-invested-in-this-3-d-printing-trend.aspx\">Motley Fool recently went deep<\/a> on the topic from an investor perspective, laying out what\u2019s needed to make large-scale additive manufacturing with metal a reality.
