Game on.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Not just for replacements parts anymore.<\/strong> You can\u2019t make planes out of plastic (yet), but as 3D printing deploys new alloys and advanced materials, <a href=\"http:\/\/advancedmanufacturing.org\/producers-seek-solutions-production-barriers\/\">additive manufacturing becomes a viable way<\/a> to make many parts for aerospace. The 3D-printed fuel nozzle in GE\u2019s LEAP engine is just one example.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Construction revolution. <\/strong>The construction industry hasn\u2019t always been the first off the blocks to adopt new technologies (it\u2019s one of the least digitized industries, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/industries\/capital-projects-and-infrastructure\/our-insights\/imagining-constructions-digital-future\">according to McKinsey<\/a>). But that\u2019s beginning to change now as drones, on-site robotics, and digital collaboration tools transform how and what we build for the better. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/forbesrealestatecouncil\/2018\/02\/05\/three-emerging-technologies-impacting-the-construction-industry\/#13ffee235ef4\">Forbes has the analysis<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Making AI more fair. <\/strong>Just because a computer does the thinking doesn\u2019t mean that it\u2019s without cultural bias, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/redshift\/diversity-in-artificial-intelligence\/\">Autodesk\u2019s own Danny Guillory has been saying<\/a> for some time. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/40536485\/now-is-the-time-to-act-to-stop-bias-in-ai\">This thought-provoking piece<\/a> from writer Will Byrne at Fast Company discusses how we can make sure AI behaves fairly, now that it\u2019s used in everything from loan decisions to law enforcement.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Robots got milk. <\/strong>As the crackdown on illegal immigration reduces the agricultural workforce, farmers turn to automation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-01-30\/thanks-to-trump-more-u-s-milk-will-be-coming-from-robot-labor\">Bloomberg reports<\/a> that the dairy industry is ramping up the use of robotics for milking cows, and apparently the cows don\u2019t mind.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Self-driving slippers. <\/strong>If you needed any more proof that we live in future times, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2018\/02\/02\/nissans-self-driving-slippers-park-themselves-cars-technology\/\">these adorable self-tidying slippers<\/a> from Nissan\u2019s ProPILOT Guesthouse in Ryokan, Japan should do the trick. As Dezeen explains, they use the same technologies you\u2019ll find in self-driving cars to they put themselves away when you take them off.
