Check out this week\u2019s picks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Some Assemble required. <\/strong>After years of lagging behind other industries in innovation, construction is turning the tide, bringing the power of the cloud to dynamic tasks that have, till now, resisted digitization\u2014including bidding, reporting, and payroll. Pymnts.com had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/b2b-payments\/2018\/raken-construction-technology-adoption\/\">a great overview of the changing industry landscape<\/a> back in June. In keeping with the festival\u2019s theme of \u201cliquid cities,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designboom.com\/art\/studiokca-whale-plastic-waste-bruges-triennale-ocean-pollution-installation-06-27-2018\/\">this cantilevered installation<\/a> is constructed from 5 tons of plastic pulled from the Pacific. It\u2019s meant to raise awareness of just how much plastic we create\u2014and what happens to it when we\u2019re through. Here\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/advancedmanufacturing.org\/stemming-the-tide-with-manufacturing-training\/\">a great piece in Advanced Manufacturing<\/a> about the efforts by companies like Sandvick Coromant and Haas Automation to get students ready for fulfilling careers in the factories of the future. And ConstructionDive reports about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructiondive.com\/news\/brasfield-gorrie-offers-hands-on-construction-tech-program\/527536\/\">contractor Brasfield &amp; Gorrie\u2019s efforts<\/a> to train students on the latest digital technologies and modular fabrication techniques in construction.\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sea and be seen.<\/strong> Coral are adamantly low-tech creatures, but scientists are finding high-tech ways to help them, since they play such an important role in the marine ecosystem.
