In fact, a new report, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalconstruction2030.com\/\">Global Construction 2030<\/a>, forecasts the volume of construction output will grow by 85% to\u202f$15.5 trillion\u202fworldwide by 2030, with China leading the way ahead of US and \u202fIndia.<\/p>\n<p>To help ensure that construction output grows in lock-step with construction productivity, Autodesk and the China Design Digital Technology Co. Ltd. (CDDT) signed a new partnership last month to advance BIM adoption. Ltd.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>To understand the promise of BIM for future construction projects, just look at the iconic Samuel Chao Chung Ting Science Museum in Rizhao City, China. Images courtesy of CADG.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>What\u2019s especially noteworthy about the collaboration between Autodesk and CDDT is the joint objective of the two leaders to drive the application of BIM to the construction of new \u201csmart\u201d cities \u2013 from design and construction to operations and maintenance. With this effort, they aim to spur innovation in BIM for urban construction, drive technological advancement, and improve the productivity of China\u2019s AEC industry.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no secret that China is rapidly urbanizing\u2014more than half\u202fof the country\u2019s population now lives in cities, and \u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/cities\/2017\/mar\/20\/china-100-cities-populations-bigger-liverpool\">over 100 Chinese cities<\/a>\u202f have a population of more than 1 million people.
