The lines are blurring between designers and engineers, and those normally associated with machining or fabrication like CNC programmers and machinists: creation and making are becoming one. Today\u2019s digital manufacturing technologies are making it possible for people to create things with the precision and quality that previously required a lifetime of learning, opening up the world of manufacturing to an entirely new segment of would-be makers.<\/p>\n<p>As evidenced by the uptick of mergers and acquisitions made in 2012, the traditionally fragmented CAM software market is maturing. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20121001005520\/en\/Autodesk-Acquires-HSMWorks-Technology\">Autodesk\u2019s acquisition of HSMWorks<\/a> in October 2012 marked a milestone in the changing CAM market and further enforced Autodesk\u2019s commitment to delivering solutions to the broadest range of users \u2013 from designers and engineers to veteran CNC programmers \u2013 regardless of their CAD tool of choice.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>And today, we introduced the public beta of <a href=\"http:\/\/cam.autodesk.com\/\">Autodesk Inventor HSM Express<\/a>, a free CAM solution for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/autodesk-inventor-family\/overview\">Autodesk Inventor<\/a> users. Powered by HSMWorks technology, Inventor HSM Express has all the capabilities of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsmworks.com\/\">HSMXpress<\/a> \u2013 the free CAM Solution for SolidWorks \u2013 and is seamlessly integrated inside the design environment of Autodesk Inventor.
