Southern California-based UVP relies on Autodesk
\nProduct Design Suite<\/a> to
\nmore effectively design and manufacture scientific
\nimaging equipment that is used to identify potential cures for major diseases.
\nFor its innovation, Autodesk has recognized UVP as the Autodesk Inventor of the Month<\/a> for December.<\/p>\n

UVP\u2019s bioimaging systems \u2014 which can create images of entire animals,
\nsuch as mice, or of individual tumor cells, using fluorescence tagged disease
\ncells and other techniques \u2014 allow medical researchers to better understand the
\ngenetics of a variety of diseases including cancer, diabetes and other major
\nailments.

Autodesk Product Design Suite, which includes Digital Prototyping tools
\nsuch as Autodesk Inventor<\/a> software, plays a key role
\nin creating these innovative imaging and analysis solutions.  The result is a reduction in overall time to
\nmarket by 75 percent, enabling UVP\u2019s imaging systems to reach medical research
\nteams faster and directly impacting many on the front lines of the war against
\ndisease.<\/p>\n

\u201cData generation in research is all about replication and cost per data
\npoint, and more data for less cost is critical in these competitive fields.
\nAutodesk Product Design Suite gives us a competitive edge with extremely rapid
\nturns of designs, allowing more tests of form, fit and function prior to
\nrelease,\u201d said Sean Gallagher, chief technical officer at UVP. \u201cAutodesk Product
\nDesign Suite also has been the cornerstone for the development of good workflow

A Comprehensive Product Design Solution<\/strong><\/p>\n

UVP worked
\nwith Autodesk Platinum Partner KETIV<\/a> to implement Autodesk Product Design Suite throughout its product
\ntechnology development group. As a result, UVP relies on Inventor software to
\ngenerate new 3D designs, while using Autodesk
\nAutoCAD<\/a> software, another component of
\nProduct Design Suite, to update and maintain 2D legacy drawings.<\/p>\n

UVP centrally stores and manages all data \u2014 2D and 3D alike \u2014with Autodesk Vault data management software<\/a>, making it easy for UVP to find and reuse design data. This centralization
\nspeeds the company\u2019s response to customization requests, when customers want a
\nspecific aspect of an instrument changed to better suit their research needs.<\/p>\n

UVP marketers also use Autodesk Showcase<\/a> software to transform CAD
\ndata into compelling 3D imagery for instructional documentation and educational
