Quick Tip: Limit Assembly Joints

Tips & Tricks

When it comes to properly creating assemblies within Inventor, utilizing the joint command is a necessity in nearly every project. In certain assembly cases, say for example a vise, you need one of the clamps to slide horizontally while also stopping at the opposite clamp. This type of motion joint requires that you set a limit to the travel of the vise to keep its motion in line with what you might see in reality.

By adding limits to joints, you can limit the length of travel of a joint and keep it from interfering with other geometries in your assembly. The process is a simple but necessary aspect to assemblies within Inventor – and you can watch the short video below to learn how to use it!
