When it comes to user experience, we live in an age of simplicity. That’s why we’re excited to announce a new streamlined workflow – available June 2016 – that allows you to natively import your Topcon laser scans directly to ReCap 360.
Topcon, a California-based manufacturer of surveying equipment with global headquarters in Japan, produces a top-of-the-line GLS-2000 series of laser scanners with 130m, 350m, or 500m of range. Previously, surveyors had to convert their Topcon laser scans into point clouds using TopconScanMaster software before transferring into Autodesk products. This two-step process has now been simplified to one, saving you time by allowing a direct import of Topcon GLS-2000 raw scan files to ReCap 360. Once the files are in ReCap 360, you can view, register, measure, markup, process, and edit scan information.
Why laser scan? Scanning has proven extremely useful in avoiding costly errors in renovation and retrofit construction projects. Scans, or point cloud data, provide quick, accurate and complete capture of existing conditions that streamline design and verification work. When used in Autodesk design software, you can plan and track all changes made during the construction process.
The pairing of a GLS-2000 scanner with the professional version of ReCap 360 (i.e. ReCap 360 Pro) helps you leverage features like auto-registration, movie creation and advanced markups. In addition, ReCap 360 Proprovides advanced sharing options such that reality data can be quickly consumed in essential Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Navisworks, Infraworks, 3ds Max).
With Autodesk software + Topcon’s GLS-2000 scanner, you can:
- Deliver quality reports, drawings, 3D models and visualizations.
