We can’t wait to welcome you to Las Vegas! You’ve decided to dial into the future of making things, joining 10,000+ professionals from the architecture, design, manufacturing, and media industries. Autodesk University 2017 delivers an incredible 3 days of learning, inspiration, and in-depth skills development. How do you plan to get the most out of AU?

The first order of business is to download the AU mobile app to get the latest AU news and navigate your AU experience seamlessly.

There’s bound to be something for everybody. Whether you’re looking for classes, workshops, presentations, keynotes, interactive galleries, or networking opportunities, AU offers a plethora of choices. Our Reality Capture team has curated a list of must-see events. Here’s your day-by-day game plan.

Description: This summit offers a full day of keynotes, workshops, hands-on product sessions, and discussion dedicated to exploring the future of construction and helping you to be prepared for success.

6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Hard Hat Happy Hour at Tao Restaurant, Venetian Grand Canal Shoppes. Your registration to the Connect and Construct Summit includes access to this VIP event.

Location: Lando 4203, Level 4

Description: Our new desktop and cloud solution built for UAV and drone processes, ReCap Photo, was introduced in September and now we’re extending the functionality to developers on Autodesk Forge. In this class, one will learn how to use the Reality Capture Web API with code samples to add highly-scalable photogrammetry capability to their desktop, web or mobile applications.

Description: Connect with your fellow AU attendees at the Welcome Reception. Enjoy drinks, nosh on some classic crudites, and mingle.

Description: Up and at ‘em! Lace up your cross-trainers or running shoes and get ready to literally follow @ShaanHurley, Technologist in the office of the CTO for Autodesk. It’s a great way to jumpstart your morning, connect with fellow attendees, and get your endorphin rush before the AU day begins. Runners of all fitness levels are welcome on this easy 5k fun run.

Description: Join this breakfast to honor and celebrate some of the leading AEC projects from around the world. Hear from industry leaders in infrastructure, building design, construction, and sustainability speak about the innovation and technology behind these projects. During this project showcase, we will toast the 2017 AEC Excellence Awards winners.

Description: If you don’t have a seat to the opening keynote, come learn about the latest developments in ReCap Pro software over the past year. Topics will include attaching Navisworks projects for visualization in RealView, video export, navigation improvements, and collection and processing of scans collected with ReCap Pro for mobile. We will cover new features and workflows in depth and with real-world project data.

2:15 PM – 3:15 PM


Location: Delfino 4104, Level 4

Description: 3D scanning technology is quickly becoming more affordable and mainstream the way 2D scanning was 20 years ago. In this session, you’ll learn how to jumpstart your designs by referencing existing conditions into your AutoCAD drawings. See how point cloud data is captured in the field and easily processed for access in AutoCAD software using ReCap Pro software. Explore some of the simple ReCap tools for navigating and editing point cloud files. Learn how to bring that point cloud data into AutoCAD to accurately measure, create, and document your new designs. Throughout this session, we’ll share real-world examples of how you can use this technology to persuade stakeholders, save time, and minimize costs.

Description: As generative design, AI, and IoT usher in the “Augmented Age,” our tools are becoming radically more useful by amplifying our natural abilities. Join Autodesk Distinguished Research Scientist Erin Bradner, and special guests from Dell, Frame, Intel, HP, Lenovo, and NVIDIA for a fascinating conversation about how this new era is shaping the future of how things are made.

Description: The Technology Keynote is sure to draw crowds but if you’re looking for hands-on training with ReCap, consider this session where you will see and work with data from the Leica BLK360 and ReCap Pro software for mobile. You’ll be using ReCap Pro for desktop and comparing it to other scan data, as well as learning more about complete workflows from the field through to use of the data in some of Autodesk’s other products.

Hear about best practices and optimum setup enabling smooth movement of data from team to team and platform to platform for all project scales.

Description: Come hear the latest in product development and strategy for AEC, including new announcements on what’s coming to the BIM 360 platform. We will feature new technology previews, and customer success stories and partnerships, including a special focus on industrialized construction.

A RECAP MEETUP: Reality Capture on 3 Length Scales – Rebuilding After Natural Disasters

Connect with professionals interested in learning how images from satellites, drones, and 360-degree cameras are being analyzed and processed to support natural disaster recovery efforts in this presentation and mixer. Meet Daniel McKinnon, director of product, Orbital Insight; Dominique Pouliquen, senior manager, ReCap Business Development, Autodesk; and Matt Daly, CEO of StructionSite.
