Data Exchange Connector for Autodesk Revit Now in Public Beta

Create and update Data Exchanges directly in Revit with a new Data Exchange Connector for the desktop.

Back in April of this year, we launched Data Exchanges, a new way to share and manage your data across the teams and apps you work with, all through the cloud. Exchanges act as neutral, secure containers for you to share subsets of your building models with stakeholders. No need to pass on your entire model to those you collaborate with – instead, you provide just the data they need.

When we originally released Data Exchanges, we provided support for creating, updating, and managing exchanges through Autodesk Docs on Revit models that had been published. Today, we’re excited to announce support for the same functionality inside of Revit, with our Data Exchange Connector. That means you as a Revit user can create and update your exchanges directly from Revit, without having to switch over to Autodesk Docs or the Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Data Exchanges allow a Revit users to share granular Revit data. In this example, built with the Revit to Power Automate Connector, a Data Exchange created in Revit automates a notification in Microsoft Teams.

Once a Data Exchange is created, you can share, connect, and load your data into other apps. Want to automate workflows using subsets of your project data? Use the Power Automate Connector to automatically generate a Bill of Materials in Excel. How about using specific elements of your design to accelerate factory layouts? Use the Inventor Connector to place floors, walls, and columns around machinery. Data Exchanges streamline data sharing and give you more control over what you share and with whom — eliminating the need to swap whole project files and BIM models.
