Under the Hood - All things PDM and PLM

Last week we had our first ever virtual Autodesk University. It was an exciting week full of inspiring keynotes, over 750 on-demand classes, engaging meet-ups, and other fun bits (check out #PetsofAU).  Reimagine Possible: 5 Highlights from Autodesk University 2020 gives a high level overview.  You can find all of the Fusion Lifecycle classes by doing a filter in the search field:

Customer Insights

I always love hearing from customers about their journeys and experiences.  We had some great discussion during a Fusion Lifecycle roundtable – I’ll do a follow up blog once that recording is posted. One class that you can watch now is  Fusion Lifecycle and Vault: The Synergy from Reynaers Aluminum.  I appreciated their insight into how they tackled their PLM implementation in a true agile fashion by working in sprints. It’s always valuable to hear how customers are able to roll out enterprise solutions and integrations between PDM/PLM/ERP.

Code Warriors

With so many on-demand sessions at AU2020, there truly is something for everyone.  For any Fusion Lifecycle admins that are looking for deep technical content around how to Mitigate Fusion Lifecycle Implementation Mistakes – well, there’s a class for you! Part of the class description really resonated with me “I’ve wrecked workspaces by pasting unfinished code in production. I’ve read pages of setup logs to figure out which of my teammates botched a workflow transition name, only to find out it was me.” BTDT! Check out this course for some tips and tools to improve your PLM administration and deployment processes.

Come Together

In our Women in PDM/PLM meetup, I covered several community resources and would like to share them here.  I encourage everyone to join continued conversations in the LinkedIn Autodesk PLM Community. A few other resources you might want to bookmark if they aren’t already on your radar:

  • Fusion Lifecycle Forum
    • This is an ideal place to share your knowledge, ask questions, and explore popular Fusion Lifecycle topics.
  • Fusion Lifecycle Ideas
    • Here you can share ideas for future product features directly with the Fusion Lifecycle team and collaborate on existing suggestions with your peers.
  • Autodesk Feedback Community
    • The Autodesk Feedback Community is where you turn for opportunities to engage with Autodesk to provide feedback on our software, our services, and our offerings. Formerly focused on being a beta portal, the Autodesk Feedback Community is now expanded to offer you additional opportunities to work closely with our designers, user researchers, and other product team members throughout the development lifecycle — including technology previews that are very early in the development process.

Feel the need for speed?

Quick tip!  If you’re a frequent listener to audio books or podcasts, you may be used to speeding them up  a bit to 1.25 or perhaps 1.5 times speed.  There’s a trick for “How to speed up playback of AU classes” (though for fast talking speakers like me, perhaps you’ll want to change the playback rate to .75!)

I’d love to hear what sessions you’ve been enjoying! Comment here or join the discussion I started on the Autodesk PLM Community.
