July 26, 2018

We have published a new version of the Desktop Connector that allows BIM 360 Docs users to connect their desktop to the BIM 360 cloud.

The latest release of Desktop Connector for BIM 360 includes the following improvements:

1. Right click functionality – delete (files and folders), rename (folders) and create (folders) is now supported.

2. Improved caching to improve user experience and performance

3. Multiple bug fixes including: accounts and projects not showing following installation; performance and crashing problems when uploading large number of files; Revit links failing to load; “Item with the same key” warning when transferring files from the desktop.

In order to benefit from this update, all users should download and install it from this link.

Please note the following:

  • THE CURRENT VERSION OF DESKTOP CONNECTOR WILL NO LONGER WORK FROM 22nd AUGUST. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO INSTALL THE LATEST VERSION (6.2.0.674) AFTER THAT DATE TO CONTINUE USING DESKTOP CONNECTOR
  • The new version of the Desktop Connector will install on top of the old version.  Simply run the .exe

    Hi,
After upgrading the Desktop Connector to build 6.0.2.674 it seems there are some problems in the sync between the cloud and the DC.
In the Revit open dialog box it is showing the models, but if I look at the DC in Windows explorer the files are not visible, if I do a drag and drop directly in the Desktop Connector the files are visible in the web browser and in Windows explorer.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards Lars

This is a much stable release. However, there is a small improvement that we would like to ask. Can we exclude the Archieved projects by default? At the moment it shows me all my projects that I created and archieved and its very annoying.

It looks like with the latest update, any Revit files connected to cloud collaboration projects are now hidden when viewing the folders via the desktop connector. This also includes the files placed in the Shared directory, is this by design?

The reason I would want to access them is to open/ append them into Navisworks. Granted the last time I tested this they failed to open into Navis, but I wanted to see if the new update would allow it and found they were now hidden. Thanks in advance!

Love to see the improvements in this! Can’t wait for the “Plans” folder to also sync from BIM360.

Richard, what happened to the “automatic update” feature that was suggested after the last update? Five days to install is problematic in my organization.

Hello Allen. Apologies that that previous wording set the wrong expectation with you. With the latest builds of Desktop Connector users will be automatically notified when a new build is available. There is still manual step to then click the link in the bubble notification and start the installation.
