BIM 360 Release Notes

BIM 360 Docs Update – November 2019

December 16, 2019

Last month, we released several highly-requested features in BIM 360 Document Management.  These new features, which were announced in this blog post in November, improve the distribution, viewing, and organizing of project files and drawings.

  • Move Folders – Enables users to quickly move folders, along with all the files within each folder.
  • Show Folder Path Setting – New admin setting that allows viewers to see names of folders they do not have permission to view to easily understand folder hierarchy.
  • PDF Enhancements – Users can now use Deep Zoom to easily capture relevant data, snap to a line when calibrating and measuring for quick measurements, and precisely align PDFs when comparing versions for an improved viewing experience.

Move Folders

Previously, if a user wanted to move folders, they would have to create a new folder, and move all the documents into the new one.  Now, users can easily select to move the folder itself.  Available on web.

Show Folder Path Setting

Previously, if a user was only granted permission to view to certain folders, they were not able to see the full folder hierarchy. This led to confusion as to what the folder contents were.  Now, there is an admin setting that allows viewers to see “greyed out” folder names of folders they do not have permission to view.  Available on web.

PDF Enhancements

Deep Zoom: We have upgraded our sheet processing technology to allow for Deep Zoom – users can now continually zoom in as much as they need to gather the relevant data.

Snap to Measure: “snap” to a line when calibrating and measuring on vector PDFs.

Compare with Precise Alignment: precisely align and compare PDF versions with keyboard arrows.

Available on web.

We have also added an Admin setting for Vector PDF viewing (it is “on” by default).  If, for any reason, your team encounters problems viewing PDF’s on the web, a project admin can select the option to revert back to the previous PDF viewing experience (applies to the entire project for all users).
