Revit Issues Add-in – November 2021

The November 2021 Revit Issues Add-in update provides efficient-access to context and seamless connections between desktop and web.

In December 2020 we released the first version of the Revit Issues Add-in. Nearly a year later and we are already onto Version 3! Before taking you through the new features we have to offer, I just wanted to recap on what the Revit Issues Add-in is, and what it could offer you.

The Revit Issue Add-in visualises 3D BIM 360 (and Autodesk Construction Cloud) issues directly in the authoring application. With the Revit Issues Add-in, Revit users can open, edit, comment on, and resolve issues created from any BIM 360 client, including Design Collaboration, Model Coordination, Navisworks and Document Management.

Easy access to BIM 360 issues and resolution workflow within the Revit interface

Issues are automatically loaded when the add-in is opened, enabling Revit users to view all the issues assigned to their model. When selecting an issue in the side panel we automatically load the associated view and zoom in to the pushpin with the correct camera position. When viewing an issue, the object the pushpin is placed on is highlighted, enabling users to jump into the view and immediately start to make changes. Once the issue is resolved, change the issue status to ‘closed’ and see this reflected in BIM 360.

We also understand you may have multiple copies of the same model in different folders, depending on your workflow. Using the Load Issues dialog, users can load issues from other copies of the same model created as part of the design collaboration or model coordination process. For example, you may have a copy of a model in a coordination space or a shared folder.

Seamlessly transition from desktop to web

With our new Go Online feature, seamlessly link out to different areas of BIM 360. Users can quickly link out and view a list of all project issues in Document Management. With the ‘View Online Dialog‘, quickly go to your model’s saved location in Docs, or if you’re a Model Coordination user, link out to the Clash matrix or the Assigned clashes tab to self-check your model and see which clashes need resolving.

When viewing clash issues we also provide a direct link out to the issue details in Docs or directly in the Model Coordination viewer, giving you the multi-model context of that issue and highlighting any clashes.

You can access and download the latest installer for Revit 2020, 2021 and 2022 through Autodesk Accounts or the Autodesk Desktop App.

If you have any feedback on the Revit Issues Add-in or would like to take part in any future research, please contact us on revit-issues-addin@autodesk.com.

Note: The Revit Issues Add-In supports all cloud-based Revit model types: Revit Cloud Workshared models, Cloud Models, models accessed through Desktop Connector.
