AIF 2024 Day 2 sessions

HX50: Premium Auto at 1,500 ft — Henry Moorshead

Day 2 of the 2024 Automotive Innovation Forum took supercar design to 1,500 feet.

Henry Moorshead from Hill Helicopter demonstrated how they brought automotive interior and exterior styling techniques into the design of their luxury HX50 recreational helicopter.

As an Alias user since 1999, Henry showed us how luxury automotive design concepts — which had to adapt to the design and safety constraints of aerospace — were used to create a luxurious, personal flying experience.

RealNum 3d & VR: ‘Dark Star’ — The inside story of how Alias helped make Top Gun Maverick a flyaway success

Staying in the air but moving at Mach 10, RealNum 3D’s Frédéric Gasson and Joffery Louis talked about how they created the Darkstar from Top Gun: Maverick.

Frédéric Gasson walked us through how he modelled the Darkstar. Also a seasoned Alias user, he explained the power and efficiency he found with the new Alias puck released in Alias 2025. (Frédéric was a beta tester in the Alias 2025 development cycle.)

Joffery Louis showcased how he used new VRED volume rendering techniques to bring the Darkstar model to flight.

Day 2 also included sessions from nVIZ, Mercedes Benz and FAW.

In the afternoon, we dove deep into Alias and VRED with the 90-minute Alias and VRED Deep Dive sessions by Barry Kimbell and Pascal Seifert.

AIF 2024 Exhibition

All through AIF, our exhibition featured engaging and educational booths for Autodesk partners, event sponsors, and our Design Studio products: Alias, VRED, and Flow Production Tracker (formerly known as ShotGrid).

We were able to record interviews with partners and exhibitors like ZeroLight, Lenovo, Wacom, Autodesk Platform Services, Centoo, ItalDesign, and many more.

Stay tuned to the Design Studio Blog over the coming weeks when these will be made available.
