Our previous blog, Ensuring Security: Our Commitment to Tech Admins, about Two Factor Authentication (2FA) and Single Sign-on (SSO) as two of the ways Autodesk helps tech admins protect their organization’s design and make data. Since October is Cybersecurity Awareness month, it’s worth focusing on in more depth the benefits of using 2FA and SSO for tech admins.

In today’s interconnected world, cybersecurity is more vital than ever and protecting your Autodesk account is no exception. This month, we want to focus on two powerful tools that can significantly enhance your online security: Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Single Sign-On (SSO).

Why Cybersecurity Matters

Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks. These attacks are usually aimed at accessing, changing, or destroying sensitive information, extorting money from users, or interrupting normal business processes. With cyber threats constantly evolving, it’s essential to stay ahead of the curve and adopt robust security measures to protect your personal and professional data.

The Role of 2FA in Securing Your Autodesk Account

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an additional layer of security designed to ensure that you’re the only person who can access your account, even if someone else knows your password. When you enable 2FA, you’ll be required to provide two forms of identification before gaining access to your account. Typically, this involves something you know (your password) and something you have (a code sent to your mobile device via an authenticator application).

Here’s why 2FA is crucial:

  1. Enhanced Security: By requiring a second form of identification, 2FA makes it significantly harder for unauthorized users to access your account. Even if someone manages to steal your password, they will still need the second factor to log in. Without that second factor, the passwords they’ve stolen are useless.
  1. Protection Against Phishing: Phishing attacks, where attackers try to trick you into giving up your credentials, are common. With 2FA, even if you accidentally provide your password, the attacker still can’t access your account without that second factor.
  1. Peace of Mind: Knowing that your account has an extra layer of security can give you peace of mind, allowing you to focus on your work without worrying about unauthorized access.

Simplifying Security with Single Sign-On (SSO)

Single Sign-On (SSO) is another powerful tool that simplifies and secures the login process. SSO allows you to use one set of login credentials to access multiple applications. With SSO, you can leverage your company provided username and password to access your Autodesk applications and services.

Here’s how SSO benefits you:

  1. Convenience: SSO reduces the number of passwords you need to remember and manage. This convenience makes it easier to follow best practices for creating and maintaining strong passwords.
  1. Improved Productivity: By reducing the number of logins required, SSO saves time and increases productivity. You can quickly access the tools you need without repeatedly entering your credentials.
  1. Enhanced Security: SSO can be integrated with 2FA, adding an extra layer of security. Additionally, it allows for centralized management of user access, making it easier to enforce security policies and monitor for suspicious activities.

How to Enable 2FA and SSO for Your Autodesk Account

Enabling 2FA and SSO for your Autodesk account is straightforward:

  1. Two-Factor Authentication:
  1. Single Sign-On:

Commit to a more secure digital experience

As we celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness Month, let’s commit to taking proactive steps to safeguard our digital lives. By enabling Two-Factor Authentication and Single Sign-On, you can significantly enhance the security of your Autodesk account, protecting your valuable data and ensuring a safer online experience.

Stay safe, stay secure, and make cybersecurity a priority this month and beyond.
