Vault Fun Fact of the week – DWF page colour

Funny spelling, eh? Today’s Vault Fun Fact is an answer to one of those issues with DWF’s of DWG files. As you may know, when you view the DWG in the preview window, you’re really viewing the shadowed DWF that represents the CAD file. Sometimes, the preference is to view this with an other-than-white background to obtain the best contrast. Or another way to say this is that yellow and cyan lines are really hard to see on a white background. See image below:

Now, when viewing DWF in the Preview tab, Vault is running Autodesk Design Review to show the DWF. You can change the background color by going into the Options dialog box, Sheet tab, and checking the box to Override published paper colors. Then select your desired background (black) from the little rectangle.

I know what you’re thinking…”I have to re-publish all my DWFs”. Relax, all you’ll need to do is log out and log in from Vault. The next time you view the same DWF it will have the appropriate background color. Or colour.
