Where’d I put that there drawing file? (Check in associated files)

One of the most requested features of recent times has been the desire to automatically check in documents associated with the currently open model.  You know, I created a model, I half-finished detailing it and saved it locally for later, but then later I forgot about it and my dog ate the hard drive….

Problem solved, the add associated files option (now available on the check in dialog box) permits users to select the location, name and type of files to seek out and add to Vault with the model on check in:

Assoc
Include File Types: This allows the user to filter the design files included in the check in operation, idw, dwg and ipn.

File Name: This setting restricts the scan to only search for files with the same name as the model

Locations: Here the user is able to more efficiently scan the local machine by selecting only the same folder location as the model right up to all locations in the project file including subfolders.

You should only need to configure your settings once and simply have this option turned on for your check in operations.  Inventor will scan the local drive for your files and display them in the window on check in.
