So now we know the wiki exists, we have had a look around the interface and we know all about the supported environment, but now you want to step up the level of difficulty, how do I upgrade to full SQL? How do I set up a replicated environment? What about working with IIS? Didn’t there used to be a document to do this?
Yes, the advanced configuration guide (ACG) was the implementer’s bible covering much of the high touch tricks of the trade when it came to configuring the interface with other Windows systems, firewalls, networking and the like. Much of the detail in these documents has now been absorbed into the wiki structure itself, this makes it easier to find, easier to update and keep current.
The wiki information too is a lot richer, the new sections entitled Installing the Autodesk Vault Server and Upgrade Autodesk Vault have in depth step by step best practice procedure descriptions for all styles of integrations.
However if you do like the feel of paper or are in a situation where you do not have ready access to the internet from the ADMS server, then much of this information is also available to download a print – the advanced configuration guides are available for the last 3 releases here and more specific upgrade documentation here.
Not happy with just that? You can start to make your own documents straight from the site – print any wiki page of your choosing with the “print” button on the top right of the window and save the page to pdf – one of my personal favorites for printing is the Vault Icon Reference, perhaps not so “advanced” as far as documentation goes, but a handy cheat sheet to have while you are learning!
