It had to happen eventually, we started with 64 bit SQL,
then came the 64 bit ADMS support, now finally we have a 64 bit Vault
Client. So what does that mean?
Well most of the heavy lifting of course is
being done on the server side and the 64 bit processing coupled with support
for multi-threading downloads from the server makes a big difference in user
get, check out and check in operations, but there are some client side
activities that also benefit from increased processing resources.
Perhaps the most noticeable of these is the Vault Copy Design command where extra processing enables much faster access to components and grid population. There is also a similar performance improvements for items, both populating the item master and more importantly speeding up the assign item operation.
This improvement is another piece of the wider effort the team is undertaking to streamline user workflows and improve productivity, stay tuned for more to come!
