Autodesk Buzzsaw continues to be an important part of Autodesk Vault users external project collaboration solution and being available as a subscription entitlement to our Vault Professional customers means in addition to being a powerful solution it's also cost effective.
An important part of this solution, linking on premise data management and the cloud based project collaboration tool, is Project Sync, a utility (as discussed last post, now an option built into the Vault professional install) which enables users to connect the applications, uploading and downloading design project data including things like CAD documentation, mark ups and reports manually as required or via some automated triggers.
For 2015 a number of improvements have been made to streamline and better manage this document transfer, specifically the ability to map individual Vault folders for sync. Unlike previous versions where users were required to sync a single top level folder in Vault to a single Buzzsaw site (to make sure all files required for sync were captured), we can now specify multiple mappings between Vault folders and Buzzsaw sites or folders within one Vault.
This means users are able to select the exact Vault folders they wish to synchronize (ending the need to synchronize unwanted files), and users will be able to map those Vault folders to one or more Buzzsaw sites.
Those working on multiple separate projects or just wanting to limit uploads will now be able to better manage the sync behavior as needed.
In addition, the Add from Buzzsaw work-flow has been updated to include a new dialog that asks users to choose the mapping from which they want to add file.
