Under the Hood - All things PDM and PLM

Taking another quick break from the Autodesk Vault 2015 What's New overview I wanted to shine a light on some of the updated apps you will find over on the Autodesk Vault Appstore.

First up is Drawing Compare, probably our most popular tool, updated for 2015.  If you haven't played with this before, Drawing compare allows users to compare changes across 2D DWF files or file versions straight out of Vault.  Great for weeding out and identifying those smaller document changes.

Of note this year too, is the new "Project Thunderdome" 2015 App.  This is something that Doug Redmond (Doug Redmond of "Its All Just Ones and Zeros" fame) has been supporting for a number of years and now makes available on the Appstore for 2015.

Thunderdome

Project Thunderdome is an incredibly useful tool that allows administrators to push Vault Client configuration settings and components to user machines, providing consistent saved searches, grid views, shortcuts and even some plug-ins.  Project Thunderdome has been extended in 2015 to include data standard configurations too, making sure everyone using data standard can be quickly and easily setup and marching to the same drum.

For more information on Project Thundersome and previous versions check out Doug's Blog and this post on support for Data Standard.

We're not done yet though, we will be adding an update for Vault Mirror very soon and expect to start seeing the partner updates rolling in before long, so stay tuned for more!
