Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage is a cloud PLM solution in our data and process management product portfolio. If you’re new to Fusion 360 Manage, you may not realize that Autodesk customers began using the cloud product lifecycle management solution more than 12 years ago.

Fusion 360 Manage cloud PLM helps organizations automate product development workflows and collaborate efficiently across teams and suppliers with the ease of working from anywhere.

If you are one of our Fusion 360 Manage customers not yet using its modern user interface, we created this blog series especially for you. This is the first of several posts that will familiarize you with the modern UI in Fusion 360 Manage. There is so much more you can do in Fusion 360 Manage cloud PLM with the modern UI. In this post, I will highlight five important features which should motivate you to adopt the modern UI in Fusion 360 Manage.

Why use the Fusion 360 Manage modern UI?

Autodesk embarked on the journey to modernize the Fusion 360 Manage cloud PLM application a couple of years ago. The goal was to ensure a delightful and cohesive user experience aligned with Autodesk’s user interface guidelines and consistent with other Autodesk Fusion applications.

As we progressed on the journey, our development effort became focused on a modern UI for new features and product improvements. While new customers onboarding on Fusion 360 Manage, get the modern UI by default, we would like to ensure that existing customers are on the modern interface of the product get all the enhancements planned. There are numerous reasons why existing customers should move to the modern UI.

Five important features in the modern UI

1. Walkthroughs

The Fusion 360 Manage modern UI helps in onboarding new users by supporting walkthroughs. When onboarding a user to Modern, walkthrough markups are displayed, informing the new user how to use the application and what can be done in the user interface.

2. Export workspace views

In the modern UI, workspace views can be exported to Microsoft Excel format (xlsx). Users can export any workspace view they have permission to view. The export feature will download all the columns setup for the view. The export results will be filtered based on applied filters.

3. Improved search with controls and search tags

The modern UI has improved controls to find data, including multiple sorting options, filtering by different criteria (including specific fields in the workspace), date ranges, and owners. The user interface now shows search tags for a better experience. Dark green tags are for workspaces and following light green tags are for fields in the preceding workspace.

The modern UI in Fusion 360 Manage also lets users filter the searches initiated from the dashboard.

4. Viewing 2D and 3D designs and drawings

In Fusion 360 Manage, the modern UI allows users to view and examine attached design files by clicking on the file name. The viewer supports viewing tools like pan, zoom, and walkthrough. It supports examination tools like measure, layer manager, model browser, and explode model option. It also supports sectioning tools, orbit tools, and camera options. Office files can also be opened directly in the viewer.

5. Markup on attachments

Fusion 360 Manage users can add markup when viewing design and drawing attachments in the modern UI. Markups serve as a very effective means of visual communication. There are visual cues in the attachment tab to indicate if there is a markup on a file. Management of markup is tracked in the change log.
