Dear Diary, First a quick rewind to AU Day 1. My first DM class of AU2010 was Steve Hilvers of Unverferth Manufacturing Company, Inc. This was DM220-1 CAD Data Controls the World: Key It in Once with Autodesk® Vault Professional and I forgot to mention it (sorry Steve). I felt that this class – taught by a customer, not Autodesk – was the perfect was to launch all Data Management classes at AU2010. Steve set the stage by showing where they have been and what Vault Professional does for them. Talk about a perfect set up, as all the DM classes to follow this year were a deep-dive of topics and features introduced by Steve.
So this brings me to Day Three. Bright and shiny at 8 am Dan Leighton lectured on DM416-1 Implementing Autodesk® Vault Workgroup to Manage Municipal DOT Signal and Striping Design Projects. This class was unique in that it covered Vault Workgroup in an AEC light, not manufacturing. That’s right, Vault is not just for mcad anymore. Dan showed Vault Workgroup’s flexibility in managing all files, projects, and workflows for a municipal Department of Transportation.
Allen Gager was the next class to be seen in with DM419-2 Stepping Up to Autodesk® Vault Workgroup. He outlined how a small manufacturing company on the front lines of a global market met their data challenges head on with Autodesk Vault Workgroup. Then Jeremy Lambert took us through a sneak peek of managing BIM projects with Vault Collaboration.
In the afternoon, we had a tour of SAP integration with Klaus Loerincz in DM427-4 Autodesk® Vault Professional to SAP® Made Easy. Following this, I hosted an unconference with DM430-5U The Autodesk® Vault Knows All: An Unconference for Autodesk Data Management. The day ended with Pascal Le Guellec taking us through DM433-1 Combination to the Vault, Part 3: Autodesk® Vault Reporting and Job Server, putting a bow on a great week of Data Management classes at Autodesk University 2010.
