Celebrating our Talent Acquisition team on Global TA Day

7 min read

Our Talent Acquisition and Global Mobility team is made up of more than 150 Autodeskers who are focused on attracting and hiring the best talent! In honor of Global Talent Acquisition Day, we asked a few of our TA team members to share why they love working at Autodesk:

Alicia Huang is a Talent Scout and hybrid employee based in Tokyo. In her role, she helps find the right talent and attract potential candidates for Autodesk, sourcing mainly for sales and customer success openings in the APAC region and the United States. She also runs a diversity sourcing hour on her team and was recently involved in planning and executing a hiring event in Japan.

Helga Yerbury is an Early Career Recruiter and is home-based in the UK. In her role, she looks after the entire EMEA region when it comes to intern and graduate recruitment. She drives the regional internship program, feeding additional elements into the global internship program as well as supporting local initiatives to ensure interns have an amazing experience and make them feel connected to the Autodesk family.

James Loh is the Senior Director of Global Go-to-Market & Customer Experience Talent Acquisition and is home-based in Germany. In his role, he leads a team of 50 highly talented individuals including sourcers, recruiters, and candidate support advisors, based in various countries globally.

Stacey Vyas is a Senior Recruiter for AMER Go-To-Market & Customer Experience and is home-based in Florida. In her role, she helps hiring managers attract the best talent possible, serving as a talent advisor to leaders and helping them hire in a way that creates a strong brand and great relationships, both internally and externally.

What made you want to join the Talent Acquisition team at Autodesk?

Alicia: I was not aware of Autodesk as a company before, but after I did my research, I found that Autodesk’s products are very aligned with my interests and values. I am very interested in design, and Autodesk’s technology helps people and companies design better. I think there is nothing more important than your passion for your company’s business, as it can make you a better sourcer or recruiter.

Helga: I saw the job on LinkedIn and thought, WOW, this is a job I will certainly enjoy. I looked up Autodesk’s values and immediately had another wow moment, thinking this is a great fit for what I believe in. I wanted to join a company where I could be myself, excelling and building on my strengths but also developing in other areas I am not so good at in a non-judgmental environment with the support of my team and manager. Also, the software designed by such talented people within Autodesk has a big impact on the environment as well as the world around us, and I wanted to join a company that tries to influence the world for the good rather than just make money.

James: The Talent Acquisition team at Autodesk consists of highly talented team members who are extremely creative, confident, and collaborative. The team always thinks about how we can continuously up our ante and provide the best-in-class talent acquisition approaches to Autodesk and our candidates, challenging ourselves to achieve greater outcomes every day. The team is also very down-to-earth, caring, and supportive towards one another. All of this makes the Talent Acquisition team at Autodesk a truly special place to be.

Stacey: Autodesk’s culture is by far the reason I joined – and more importantly, the reason I stay. I love and appreciate how we weave our Culture Code through everything we do, and it starts with the assessment process for candidates. I love to tell candidates about our culture journey and some of the things we do to ensure we are bringing in talent that lives the same “Values” and “Ways We Work.” I am a strong believer in what we do, but more importantly, I connect with how we do it. I know we will only continue to grow and get better for our teams, our customers, and our partners!

What aspects of your role in Talent Acquisition bring you the most personal fulfillment and satisfaction?

Helga: I am a keen collaborator, having a global mindset, and I think success is achieved better and with more creativity if done in a team. I am very happy to have found this in the Global Early Careers Team here at Autodesk. The Think, Feel, and Do structure of Autodesk’s values particularly resonates with me, as they are so important to how our culture is created and practiced.

I have been in an Early Careers advisory role for over 10 years and to this day, I find it incredibly enjoyable helping individuals find their own career path, opening opportunities for them, and guiding them through the pros and cons of joining Autodesk depending on their circumstances. The best part of the job is getting to offer candidates a position they are going to love, and I love being part of that journey!

James: For me, the opportunity to partner and consult with our business leaders to understand our talent needs to support Autodesk’s plans today and in the future, and craft bespoke strategies to support our business’s talent plans. Collaborating with a wide spectrum of colleagues inside and outside of Autodesk (externally such as our diversity partners) to bring the talent strategy to life and directly impact the business is truly fulfilling and satisfying to me.

Stacey: There is nothing more satisfying than helping someone land their “dream job.” It humbles me to know that our impact can help existing employees land a promotion or new role, or external candidates start a new career at Autodesk — which can change their life! My favorite email is when I get the notification that a job has been accepted.

Alicia: I enjoy representing Autodesk and selling the company to potential candidates who have never heard about us before, and having candidates be thankful they became interested because of me. Also, I love it when I successfully close a very niche or difficult position.

What feedback have you received from candidates about their experience with our recruitment process?

James: We have received feedback that our Talent Acquisition members are very attentive in sharing helpful insights about the culture of Autodesk – which we are all very proud of and highly knowledgeable about our business – and timely in providing feedback and guidance on next steps. We’ve also heard that our interviewers are well-prepared and create an inclusive, supportive, and productive environment during the interview process.

Many new hires (including my own personal experience back when I joined Autodesk) also tell us that their experience as employees is consistent with the experience they had during the recruitment process. This is so great to hear, especially regarding the consistency of experiences. There are still some areas where we can certainly improve, and we are continuously identifying opportunities to do so, in line with our commitment to putting experience at the center of the way we run Talent Acquisition.

Stacey: Most often, we receive positive feedback that we are thorough with our process. Although sometimes time-consuming (and the waiting is never fun), candidates appreciate the opportunity to meet with multiple people at Autodesk before they decide whether to join. We also provide great resources on our culture and benefits that help candidates connect with us and learn what it’s like to be an Autodesker prior to even interviewing.

Alicia: We’ve heard from candidates that the interview process can be long. Also, for Japanese candidates, many of them struggle with English job descriptions, as it is difficult for them to understand the language. So, we’ve shortened the process – some positions only need to have two interviews – and have also translated job descriptions into Japanese for almost every position in Japan. Autodesk cares about candidate experience and wants candidates to feel comfortable with our process.

Helga: I’ve received fabulous feedback from a lot of individuals in my EMEA intern cohort this summer – highlighting the fabulous experience they had, thanking me for giving them the opportunity and guiding them through the recruitment process, as well as for being their trusted advisor throughout their time at Autodesk. This wouldn’t be possible without all the dedicated work from hiring and intern managers and intern buddies who support and train our interns and graduates on a daily basis.
